Attention!
The electrical connection of the equipment must be executed by qualified personnel only!
(Ex)
Attention!
It is mandatory that the housing of the liteServer® Series has to be grounded via a PE-connection!
⚠️
Attention!
If possible, carry out initial commissioning when the outside temperature is above 0°C to prevent condensation inside the housing.
The liteServer® Ex.mini is manufactured with a cable pigtail. Any electro-technical or mechanical work inside the flameproof enclosure by the user is prohibited. The cable connection is furnished with a terminal block termination.
5.1 Potential equalization
The potential equalization (earthing of the housing) is mandatory to avoid electrostatic charging and spark generation. The screw terminal on the housing's rear side is intended for this purpose. The profile of the potential equalization must reflect national grounding instructions (min. 4 mm²).

5.4 Tests prior to switching on voltage
⚠️
Attention!
Prior to commissioning, all tests indicated by national regulations must be executed. Ensure proper functioning of the operating device according to this user manual and all applicable regulations.
⚠️
Attention!
Incorrect installation and operation of the liteServer may lead to a loss of warranty!
⚠️
Attention!
If possible, carry out initial commissioning when the outside temperature is above 0°C to prevent condensation inside the housing.
6 Exchanging the illuminant / LED-block
The illuminant should only be exchanged if defective, using an original spare part of the same model. Opening the Ex d housing is permitted and necessary for this. Follow the steps in this user manual and the T20 liteServer® Series Ex installation manual.
6.1 Work preparation
(Ex)
Attention!
Carry out any pre-operational work carefully and in accordance with applicable regulations.
(Ex)
Attention:
Depending on zone classification, a work permit/clearance might be necessary. When adjusting luminaire settings, a potentially explosive atmosphere must be avoided by any means!
- Use appropriate tools.
- Make sure you have a secure foothold.
- Avoid static charge.
6.2 Opening the pressure-resistant housing
Opening the pressure-resistant housing is allowed only to replace a defect LED. Afterwards, the housing must be closed explosion-proof again. Follow these steps carefully:
„WARNING – DO NOT OPEN IN HAZARDOUS AREA“
Attention:
For opening the liteServer®'s pressure-resistant stainless steel housing T07 VA1.2.K1.BOR, follow the step-by-step instructions in the T20 Ex installation manual!
Loosen the six M4 cylinder-head hexagon screws (DIN 912/ ISO 4762) with spring rings (DIN 127A) on the rear side of the cable and power supply flange. Caution: do not touch screw threads with skin or clothes. LOCTITE® 243TM is applied to threads to prevent loosening. Carefully pull out the cable and supply flange straight to the rear. Due to negative pressure, removal may be difficult. Do not tilt the flange. Risk of damage to the flame-proof gap (DIN EN 60079-1:2012)! Caution: do not touch the cylindrical fit surface with skin or clothes. Lubricating paste is applied to protect against fretting corrosion and mechanical stresses.
When opening, do not damage the GYLON® flat seal (blue, RAL5012) or make it dirty. The gasket is loosely attached to the flange. Pull out the luminaire carefully, avoiding clamping the cables.
(Ex)
Attention!
Beware not to damage the surface of the bore hole and shaft (fit) at the flame proof gap, which prevents ignition transmission.
(Ex)
Attention!
Ensure housing sealings are not damaged and are kept clean.
6.3 Replacing the LED block
To replace the LED-block, carefully loosen the 5 grub screws on the side. The LED block is plugged in and can be removed after loosening the grub screws. Separate at the plug contacts.
Figure 6.1 - Removal of the LED block: Shows the LED block being detached from the luminaire, illustrating grub screws and plug contacts.
Insert the new LED replacement block into the connection socket of the housing flange. Ensure plug contacts and the aluminum heat sink surface are clean and undamaged. After replacement, tighten the grub screws again. Use new, original grub screws. Tightening torque is 1.2 Nm! Loctite 243 may be used for screw locking.
Figure 6.2 - Installation of the new LED block: Shows the new LED block being inserted into the luminaire housing and secured.
When touching electrical components, potential equalization (grounding of the body) must be observed (ESD clothing, PE wristband etc.)! When closing the housing, observe cable routing to avoid collisions and strain, and ensure the necessary bending radius by looping the cable.
6.4 Closing of the pressure-resistant housing
Attention:
For closing the pressure-tight stainless steel T07 VA1.2.K1.BOR housing of the liteServer® Ex.mini, follow the T20 Ex installation manual step by step! Proceed in reverse order of opening. Use only original screws. Check threaded holes for damage and cleanliness. Ensure the flame-proof gap (circularcylindrical fit) is checked before closing.
ATTENTION:
In case of any mechanical damages to the flameproof joint, the housing must not be used anymore!
ATTENTION!
Do not lock-in any foreign objects in the housing.
ATTENTION!
Insert the flange to the end position to ensure ignition protection and the housing's protection level (IP).
Dismantled screw locks (spring washers DIN 127A) must be reused. The GYLON® gasket must be used in undamaged condition, placed between the flange and hull according to the flange hole pattern. If the fitting gap surface is dirty or insufficiently lubricated, clean with a cloth and de-grease, then re-grease with suitable lubricant (e.g., Molykote® P-40 gel or OKS 403 for heavy seawater influence). Screwed connections of flange and body must be tightened crosswise to a torque of 3 Nm! Do not overtighten to avoid rupture or thread stretching, which could impair pressure resistance or ignition protection class. Screws must be provided with a little LOCTITE 243.
Cylinder head screws used for explosion-proof connection of the housing body with the flanges must always be tightened evenly and crosswise with a tightening torque of 3 Nm.
7 Maintenance / Servicing / Alterations
National regulations for maintenance and servicing of electrical devices in hazardous areas must be observed. Maintenance intervals are specific to individual devices and determined by application parameters. During maintenance, focus on checking parts related to ignition protection, such as housing integrity, sealings, and cable glands. Initiate or execute necessary maintenance measures.
8 Repairs and Maintenance
Repairs must only be carried out with original SAMCON Prozessleittechnik GmbH parts. Damaged pressure-resistant housings must be replaced completely. Return applicable parts to SAMCON Prozessleittechnik GmbH if in doubt. Repairs concerning explosion protection must be performed by SAMCON Prozessleittechnik GmbH or an authorized qualified electrical technician, in accordance with national regulations. Rebuilding or alterations to devices are not permitted.
9 Disposal / Recycling
When disposing of the device, nationally applicable regulations must be observed. This document is subject to alterations and additions.
