Disposal of the batteries

Never dispose of empty batteries and rechargeable batteries with ordinary household waste. They contain pollutants such as heavy metals, which can be harmful to the environment and human health if disposed of improperly, and valuable raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel that can be recovered from waste. As a consumer, you are required by law to take them to your retail store or to an appropriate collection point depending on national or local regulations in order to protect the environment. The return service is free of charge. You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your city council or local authority. Setup Guide

Step 1: Connect Power and Activate Access Point Mode

To start up your TFA.me station, it must first be connected to the Internet via your WiFi network. Following this, it is necessary to configure the location. Please have your network password ready.

  1. Connect the attached power adapter to the base station.
  2. Open the battery compartment of the base station and insert three new AA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated. (Note: The batteries function as a backup power source in case of power failure or location change and maintain operation.)
  3. Hold the GATEWAY button on the base station for three seconds. The station is now in access-point mode. (Note: The GATEWAY button is located inside the battery compartment of the station.)

Step 2: Setup with Smartphone or Tablet

Please deactivate the Internet connection via mobile data/network reception for the duration of the installation. Then open your WiFi settings and establish a connection to the station. You can recognise it by the name of the network and the station ID "TFA-ME-ID-XXX-XXX-XXX". (Note: The smartphone/tablet often reports shortly after connection that there is no Internet connection via this device. This is initially unimportant and can be ignored.)

Step 3: Setup with WiFi Connection

Open the "me.local" page on your smartphone, tablet, or computer using any internet browser. Select your network (WiFi) on the page, enter the corresponding password, and confirm your entry with ENTER. If reception is successful, a short signal tone sounds at the station. The WiFi symbol is displayed statically when the connection has been established. (Note: As an alternative to "me.local", the IP address "192.168.8.1" can also be entered in the browser.)

Step 4: Online Platform TFA.me

Open the page "go.tfa.me" via any Internet browser. Select "Set Location" and follow the instructions to determine your location. The station then receives the correct local time and the weather forecast for this location. Once the location has been set, the setup of the base station is complete. (Note: You can use your TFA.me weather station and receive weather data without registering. Registration and an account are only necessary if you want to query the local measured values of your TFA.me devices online via the platform. Further information on registration and setup can be found at www.tfa.me.)

Step 5: Power Up the Transmitter (Manually)

  1. Open the transmitter's battery compartment.
  2. Insert two new AA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated. All LCD segments will be displayed for a short moment. Then a version info appears briefly.
  3. Select the desired channel with the CHANNEL button on the base station.
  4. Start the manual transmitter search by pressing the CHANNEL button on the base station for 3 seconds. The reception symbol for the outdoor transmitter will be flashing.
  5. Now briefly press the TX button in the battery compartment of the transmitter. The measured values will be transmitted manually.

The transmitter has its own unique ID number (nine digits, alphanumeric). A sticker with the ID number is attached to the transmitter (usually in the battery compartment).

Note: Place the transmitter at your chosen location. Should you decide to use the transmitter in the outdoor area, choose a shady and dry place. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement, and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.
