Specifications

The ProTerra Plug-in Heat Pump is available in 40 and 50-gallon capacities, operating on 120 Volt / 1 PH Electric.

Uniform Energy Factor and rated gallon capacity based on Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. All units have integrated Wi-Fi control board. ¹In cases of fused protection, a time delay fused protection will be required.

Heat Up Time vs. Initial Tank Temperature

Installation Guidelines for Optimal Efficiency

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of the ProTerra Plug-in Heat Pump Water Heater. All volumes are measured in cubic feet.

Room Size and Ventilation Requirements

• Not Ducted (Large Room): For rooms larger than 1200 ft³ (e.g., 12' x 10' x 10'), no additional ventilation is needed.
• Not Ducted (Medium Room): For rooms between 400 ft³ (e.g., 5' x 8' x 10') and 1200 ft³ (e.g., 12' x 10' x 10'), requirements include a full louvered door OR two louvers top and bottom, with a minimum louver area of 2.9 ft².
• Ducted with Outlet Duct: For rooms smaller than 400 ft³ (e.g., 5' x 8' x 10'), such as a closet, a full louvered door is required, with a minimum louver area of 3.25 ft². Ducting should be insulated to reduce condensation.

Insufficient air circulation can lead to an ambient air temperature drop of more than 15° F (8° C) and cause inefficient operation. Refer to room size volume illustrations to determine optimal installation and if exhaust should be ducted.

Installation Space Volume refers to the unoccupied, free air space required for optimal operation. Additional objects in the space reduce the total available volume.

Geographic Considerations

For optimal operation, installation in the gray-shaded US map zone is recommended. When installing outside of this zone, consult your local plumbing contractor.
