Method One: Using WPS Button

This method allows you to connect your extender to your router using the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button.

  1. Plug the extender next to your router. Wait until the power [power-button] LED turns solid on.

Visual Description: An image shows the Cudy extender plugged in, with an arrow pointing from 'Flash' to 'Solid On' for the power LED.

  2. Press the WPS button on your router. Then, within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender.

Visual Description: An image shows a router with a WPS button pressed, and an arrow pointing to the extender's WPS button being pressed. The extender has a WPS button labeled.

  3. The extender's LED will start to flash. Wait until the power [power-button] LED and the WPS [WPS-button] LED turn solid on. This indicates the extender has successfully connected to your host WiFi network.

Visual Description: Diagrams illustrate the 'Pairing process' (LED flashing) and 'Connection process' (LED solid on).

Troubleshooting: If the LED does not turn solid on after 2 minutes, try step 2 again. If it still doesn't work, proceed to Method Two: Using Web Browser, or contact Cudy support at support@cudy.com.

  4. Connect your device (computer, smartphone, etc.) to the extender's new WiFi network. The extender creates a new WiFi network name based on your host WiFi network name, appending "–EXT2G" for the 2.4GHz band or "–EXT5G" for the 5GHz band.

    Example:

    • Host WiFi network name: YourNetworkName
    • New extended WiFi network name: YourNetworkName-EXT2G or YourNetworkName-EXT5G

Use the same WiFi password as your host WiFi router.

  5. Relocate the extender halfway between your router and the WiFi dead zone. Find a good location to plug it in, guided by the LED indicator.

Visual Description: A diagram shows the optimal placement of the extender between the router and client devices, in the 'Halfway' zone.

    LED Indicator Guide:

    • Red Flash: Connecting / not connected to host Wi-Fi
    • Solid Red: Connected, signal is weak
    • Solid Purple: Connected, signal is fair
    • Solid Blue: Connected, signal is strong

Method Two: Using Web Browser

This method involves configuring the extender through a web browser interface.

  1. Plug the extender next to your router and wait until the power [power-button] LED turns solid on.

Visual Description: An image shows the Cudy extender plugged in, with an arrow pointing from 'Flash' to 'Solid On' for the power LED.

  2. Connect your computer or smartphone to the extender's network. The default network name is typically "Cudy-RE1800" or similar.

Visual Description: A screenshot shows a computer's network connection dialog, displaying available WiFi networks including "Cudy-RE1800".

  3. Open a web browser and navigate to http://cudyre.net/ or http://192.168.10.254/. A login window will appear.

Visual Description: A screenshot shows the Cudy login page with fields for username (Auto) and password.

Use "admin" as the password to log in.

Note: If the login window does not appear, try entering the URL directly in the address bar. If it still doesn't work, refer to the FAQ section (Q1).

Select "Wireless Extender" and click "Next".

Visual Description: A screenshot shows the setup wizard progress, indicating steps like Mode, Host Network, Extended Network, and Summary.

  4. Follow the step-by-step configuration process until completion. After configuration, the page will update. Wait for the power [power-button] LED to turn solid on; this may take 1-2 minutes.

Visual Description: A screenshot shows the network connection status after setup, listing connected networks and their SSIDs (e.g., XXXXXXXX-EXT2G).

Note: Ensure the WiFi password entered matches your router's WiFi password. An incorrect password will prevent connection.

    • Solid Purple: Connected, signal is fair
    • Solid Blue: Connected, signal is strong
  6. Connect your device to the extender using the extended SSID and the WiFi password you set during configuration. The default WiFi password is the same as your host WiFi network (router WiFi).
