Cudy Wi-Fi Extender Quick Installation Guide
This guide provides instructions for setting up your Cudy Wi-Fi Extender using two methods: WPS button or Web Browser. It also includes information on LED indicators and answers to common questions.
Method One: Using WPS Button
This method allows for a quick connection between your router and the extender.
- Step 1: Plug in the Extender.
Connect the Cudy Wi-Fi extender next to your existing router. Wait until the power LED on the extender turns solid on, indicating it is ready.
- Step 2: Initiate WPS Connection.
Press the WPS button on your router. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the Cudy extender. The extender's LED will begin to flash.
- Step 3: Connection Confirmation.
Wait for the extender's LED to turn solid. This indicates a successful connection to your host Wi-Fi network. If the LED does not turn solid after 2 minutes, repeat Step 2. If issues persist, try Method Two or contact Cudy support at support@cudy.com.
- Step 4: Connect Your Device.
On your computer or smartphone, find and connect to the extender's new Wi-Fi network. The network name will be your original Wi-Fi network name with either '--EXT2G' or '--EXT5G' appended. The password remains the same as your router's Wi-Fi password.
- Step 5: Optimal Placement.
Relocate the extender to a position halfway between your router and the area with poor Wi-Fi signal (dead zone). Plug it in and observe the LED to ensure a good connection. A solid blue LED indicates a strong connection.
Method Two: Using Web Browser
This method provides a guided setup through a web interface.
- Step 1: Plug in the Extender and Connect.
Connect the Cudy Wi-Fi extender next to your router and wait for the LED to turn solid. Then, connect your computer or smartphone to the extender's default Wi-Fi network, typically named 'Cudy--Extender'.
- Step 2: Access Setup Interface.
Open a web browser on your connected device and navigate to either
http://cudyre.net/orhttp://192.168.10.254/. Log in using 'admin' as the password. If the login window does not appear, please refer to the FAQ section (Q1). - Step 3: Configure Settings.
Select 'Wireless Extender' as the operation mode and click 'Next'. Follow the on-screen prompts through the configuration steps, which typically involve selecting your host Wi-Fi network, entering its password, and configuring the extended network. Wait for the extender's LED to turn solid, which may take 1-2 minutes.
- Step 4: Connect Your Device.
Once the extender is successfully connected (solid LED), connect your devices to the new extended Wi-Fi network. The network name will be your original Wi-Fi network name with '--EXT2G' or '--EXT5G' appended, and the password is the same as your router's.
- Step 5: Optimal Placement.
Position the extender halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone for optimal coverage. Use the LED indicator to find the best location; a solid blue light signifies a strong connection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q1: What can I do if the login window does not appear?
- Ensure your computer is wirelessly connected to the extender's SSID. If connected via Ethernet, verify the connection is stable. Make sure your computer is set to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically. Double-check that
http://cudyre.net/orhttp://192.168.10.254/is correctly entered in the browser. If problems persist, reset the device and try again. - Q2: What should I do if my device cannot find a Wi-Fi signal?
- Confirm the extender is powered on and connected. If no signal is detected despite normal operation, try configuring via a computer or restoring the extender to factory settings. If the issue continues after a factory reset, try restarting the extender. If it still fails, the device may be faulty.
- Q3: How to Reset to defaults?
- With the power still on, press and hold the WPS/RST button for 5 seconds. Wait 1-2 minutes for the device to restart with factory default settings.
