Settings and Measurements for Roof Rack Profiles
The following table outlines the required measurements for fitting the roof rack system to your Volkswagen Passat, depending on the chosen profile (EVOS ST or EVOS LP):
Roof Rack Profile | Measurement Type | Position | Value (cm) |
---|---|---|---|
EVOS ST STANDARD ORIGINE RF ROOF | Bar Position | Front (X) | 32.5 |
Bar Spacing | Front (F) | 93.5 | |
Bar Position | Rear (Y) | 31 | |
Bar Spacing | Rear (R) | 92 | |
EVOS LP LOW PROFILE | Bar Position | Front (X) | 40.5 |
Bar Spacing | Front (F) | 101.5 | |
Bar Position | Rear (Y) | 39 | |
Bar Spacing | Rear (R) | 100 |
Note: 'X' and 'Y' typically refer to the distance from the edge of the fit kit to the roof rack bar. 'F' and 'R' typically refer to the distance between the front and rear roof rack bars. Always refer to the main manual for precise definitions.

Installation Steps
General Instruction: Always consult the main manual (A+B/X+T) before beginning these installation steps.
Step 1: Prepare Mounting Components
Attach the primary mounting components (Parts 52PL049A) to the vehicle's roof structure. This involves inserting a rod into a housing and securing it, ensuring a snug fit. This action is performed four times (x4) for the base feet.
Step 2: Position Base Feet on Vehicle
Place the four prepared base feet (Parts 52PL049A) onto the vehicle's roof. Two are positioned at the front and two at the rear, aligned with the vehicle's mounting points. The diagram shows the general placement relative to the car's body, with asterisks indicating specific mounting locations.
Step 3: Measure and Set Bar Spacing
Ensure correct spacing between the roof rack bars. For the Volkswagen Passat, the front bars should be positioned according to the 'F' measurement (e.g., 93.5 cm for EVOS ST, 101.5 cm for EVOS LP), and the rear bars according to the 'R' measurement (e.g., 92 cm for EVOS ST, 100 cm for EVOS LP). Visual indicators are shown to help align the components correctly on the roof.
Step 4: Attach Front Roof Rack Bars
For the front of the vehicle, attach the specific fit kit parts (40FE410A) to the roof rack bars. The diagram shows two parts being attached to the bars, with arrows indicating the direction of assembly. Insert the M6x12 screw (Part 60BE6012) through the toothed washer (Part 82FE0004) and into the locking mechanism component (Part 81FE054A). Tighten using the hex key (Part 72FE0008) with a torque of at least 3 Nm (minimum 3 Nm).
Step 5: Attach Rear Roof Rack Bars
For the rear of the vehicle, attach the specific fit kit parts (40FE411A) to the roof rack bars. Similar to the front, the diagram shows two parts being attached to the bars.
