Lubricants and Working Fluids

Recommendations apply to all climatic and operating conditions.

Note: Recommended oils contain all necessary elements. Additives should not be used.

Note: Oil must be changed much more frequently if the vehicle is operated under severe conditions (especially if deep water crossings are involved).

Engine Oil – V8 Petrol Engines

Use 5W/30 oil, conforming to ACEA: A3 (with API SL or SM) specification.

It is recommended to use Land Rover WSS-M2C913-B.

Engine Oil – V8 Supercharged Petrol Engines

Use 5W/30 oil, conforming to ACEA: A3 (with API SL or SM) specification.

It is recommended to use Land Rover WSS-M2C913-B.

Engine Oil – Diesel Engines

Use only 5W/30, 5W/40, 10W/30, or 10W/40 oil, conforming to Land Rover WSS-M2C913-B specification.

Engine Oil Operating Temperature Ranges

5W/30 provides protection at temperatures from –30 °C to 35 °C (–22 °F to 95 °F).

5W/40 provides protection at temperatures from –30 °C to 50 °C (–22 °F to 122 °F).

10W/30 provides protection at temperatures from –10 °C to 35 °C (–14 °F to 95 °F).

10W/40 provides protection at temperatures from –10 °C to 50 °C (–14 °F to 122 °F).

Main Gearbox

Petrol Engine: Shell ATF M1375.4

Diesel Engine: For the life of the vehicle

Transfer Box

Use Shell TF 0753.

Front Differential

All vehicles: Castrol SAF XO.

Rear Differential

Without locking differential: Castrol SAF XO

With locking differential: Castrol SAF Carbon Mod Plus

Power Steering

Use Texaco Cold Climate PAS 14315 working fluid.

Brake Fluid Reservoir

Use Shell DOT4 ESL or low-viscosity brake fluid DOT 4, which conforms to ISO 4925, Class 6 requirements.

Windscreen Washers

Windscreen washer fluid.

Engine Cooling System

Antifreeze: Use Havoline XLC, conforming to WSS-M97B44 (Texaco XLC) specification, orange color, mixed in equal proportion with water, for protection at temperatures down to –40 °C (–40 °F).
