Checking and Topping Up Vehicle Fluids
Engine Oil
Regularly check your engine oil level, ideally weekly. If the oil level drops significantly or you notice a sudden decrease, consult a qualified specialist. If the screen displays "LOW OIL PRESSURE," stop the vehicle safely, turn off the engine, and seek professional assistance. Do not restart the engine until the cause is resolved.
Before checking the oil level, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface, the engine is at operating temperature, and has been switched off for at least 10 minutes to allow the oil to stabilize.
- Turn on the ignition (without starting the engine).
- Ensure the gear selector is in Park (P).
- Using the controls on the driver information module, navigate to the "Service Menu" (refer to section 62, "Vehicle Information and Settings Menu").
- Select "Show Oil Level." The display will show the current oil level and any recommendations for topping up. Add oil as instructed.
The oil level indicator will show the current level. Messages next to the indicator will recommend necessary actions.
- If the oil level is within the normal range, the message "Oil Level OK" will be displayed. No oil needs to be added.
- If the oil level is below the required level, a message will indicate the amount of oil to add, e.g., "Add 0.5 L." Add the recommended amount of oil.
- If the message "Oil Level Overfill" appears, immediately seek qualified assistance. Do not use the vehicle, as this can cause serious engine damage.
- If the message "Oil Level Underfill" appears, add 1.5 L (2.6 pints) of oil, then recheck the level.
- The message "Oil Level Unavailable" may appear if the oil level has not yet stabilized. Turn off the ignition, wait 10 minutes, and check the oil level again.
- If a "ENGINE OIL LEVEL CONTROL FAULT" warning appears, consult a qualified specialist.
Adding Oil
Your vehicle may lose warranty coverage if damage occurs due to the use of oil that does not meet the required technical specifications. Using oil that does not meet specifications can lead to increased engine wear, sludge formation, and higher emissions, potentially causing engine damage. Overfilling the oil can cause serious engine damage. Add oil in small quantities and recheck the level to avoid exceeding the maximum level.
- Unscrew the oil filler cap.
- Add oil as indicated on the display.
- Clean up any spilled oil.
- Recheck the oil level after 10 minutes.
It is crucial to use oil that meets the required technical specifications and is suitable for the climate conditions in which the vehicle is operated. To raise the oil level from the MIN to the MAX mark on the dipstick, approximately 1.5 L (2.6 pints) of oil is required for all models.

Cooling System
Operating the engine without coolant can cause serious engine damage. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank at least once a week, or more frequently if you drive frequently or in demanding conditions. Always check the level when the system is cold.
Maintain the coolant level between the "COLD FILL RANGE" marks on the side of the expansion tank. Do not be concerned about coolant visible in the upper part of the tank.
If the coolant level drops suddenly or significantly, have the vehicle inspected by a qualified specialist.
Adding Coolant
- Caution: Never remove the filler cap on a hot engine, as escaping steam or hot fluid can cause severe burns.
- Avoid spilling antifreeze onto a hot engine, as this could cause a fire.
- Slowly unscrew the filler cap to release any pressure before removing it completely.
- When traveling in areas where the available water contains salt, always use fresh (rain or distilled) water. Using salt water can cause significant engine damage.
Top up to the upper level mark located above the "COLD FILL RANGE" text on the side of the expansion tank. Use a 50% mixture of water and Castrol SF antifreeze.
Note: In an emergency, if the specified antifreeze is unavailable, fill the cooling system with clean water. Be aware that this will reduce frost protection. Do not add or use traditional antifreeze. If you are unsure, consult a qualified specialist.
After topping up, securely screw the cap back on until it clicks.
Antifreeze
Safety Warning: Antifreeze is toxic. Ingesting antifreeze can be fatal. Keep containers of antifreeze sealed and out of reach of children. If antifreeze is accidentally ingested, seek immediate medical attention.
If the fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Using non-approved antifreeze can negatively affect the cooling system and reduce engine life. Antifreeze can damage painted surfaces; immediately clean up any spills with an absorbent material and rinse the area with a water-based car shampoo solution.
Antifreeze contains essential anti-corrosion additives. The antifreeze concentration in the coolant should be maintained at 50% ± 5% year-round, not just in cold weather. To ensure the anti-corrosion properties of the coolant are maintained, it should be checked annually and completely replaced every ten years, regardless of mileage. Failure to do so may lead to corrosion of the radiator and engine components.
The specific gravity of a 50% antifreeze solution at 20°C (68°F) is 1.068, providing freeze protection down to -40°C (-40°F).
Brake Fluid
Safety Warning: Brake fluid is highly toxic. Keep containers of brake fluid sealed and out of reach of children. If brake fluid is accidentally ingested, seek immediate medical attention.
If brake fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Caution: Do not spill brake fluid on a hot engine, as this may cause a fire.
- Avoid driving with a fluid level below the MIN mark. This could lead to a significant increase in braking distance or complete brake failure.
- If the brake pedal travel feels significantly longer, or if you notice a significant decrease in brake fluid, seek qualified assistance immediately. Driving under these conditions can increase braking distance or lead to brake failure.
- If the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir drops below the recommended level, the red brake warning light will illuminate on the instrument panel.
Note: If the warning light illuminates while driving, stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so, by gently applying the brake pedal. Check the fluid level and top up if necessary.
Adding Brake Fluid
Brake fluid can damage painted surfaces. Immediately clean up any spills with an absorbent material and rinse the area with a water-based car shampoo solution.
- Always use new fluid from a sealed container. Fluid from opened or previously drained containers can absorb moisture, which may negatively affect performance and should not be used.
- Before removing the reservoir filler cap, clean it to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir.
- Remove the filler cap.
- Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark using Shell DOT4 ESL brake fluid. If Shell DOT4 ESL is unavailable, you can use a low-viscosity DOT4 brake fluid that meets ISO 4925 Class 6 and Land Rover LRES22BF03 requirements.
- Replace the cap and the cover panel.
Power Steering Fluid
Safety Warning: Power steering fluid is highly toxic. Keep containers sealed and out of reach of children. If power steering fluid is accidentally ingested, seek immediate medical attention.
If the fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not start the engine if the fluid level has dropped below the MIN mark. This could cause serious damage to the power steering pump.
- If a significant drop in fluid level is noticed, seek qualified assistance immediately. Failure to do so could cause serious damage to the power steering pump.
- If the fluid level drops slowly, you can add fluid up to the upper mark to allow the vehicle to reach a service station. However, it is recommended to consult a qualified specialist before continuing to drive.
Check and top up the fluid when the vehicle is on a level surface, with the engine switched off and the system cold. Do not turn the steering wheel after the engine has been switched off.
The fluid level can be checked through the translucent body of the reservoir. The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX marks.

Windshield Washer Fluid
Safety Warning: Some windshield washer fluids are flammable, especially those with high concentrations or undiluted fluid. Avoid contact with ignition sources. Do not allow washer fluid to come into contact with open flames or sources of ignition.
If the vehicle is operated at temperatures below 4°C (40°F), use a freeze-protected washer fluid. In cold weather, using fluid without freeze protection can impair visibility and increase the risk of collision.
Do not use antifreeze or a water-vinegar solution in the washer fluid reservoir. Antifreeze can damage painted surfaces, and vinegar can damage the windshield washer pump.
Spilling washer fluid can cause discoloration of body panels. Avoid spills, especially with undiluted fluids or high concentrations. If spills occur, immediately rinse the affected area with water.
Adding Washer Fluid
The washer fluid is pumped to the nozzles for the windshield, rear window, and headlight washers. Check the fluid level in the reservoir and top up at least once a week. Always top up the washer fluid to prevent the windows from freezing.
Periodically operate the washers to check the functionality and aim of the nozzles.
- Before removing the reservoir filler cap, clean it to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir.
