Vehicle Disassembly Instructions

Preliminary Step

Disconnect the negative battery cable. ⚠️

Radio Removal

  1. With Panel Removal Tool, Unclip Panel Surrounding Radio and Remove.
  2. Extract (4) Phillips Head Screws Securing Radio, Unplug and Remove Radio.

AUX/3.5mm Port Access

A view of the Subaru's center console reveals the AUX input port and a 12V power outlet.

No specific disassembly steps are listed for accessing the AUX/3.5mm port itself, but it is visible in the center console.

Front Door Speaker Removal

  1. With Panel Removal Tool, Unclip Side Mirror Panel.
  2. With Flat Head Screw Driver, unclip Screw Cover Inside Door Handle and Extract (1) Phillips Head Screw.
  3. With Flat Head Screw Driver, unclip Screw Cover Inside Door Grip and Extract (1) Phillips Head Screw.
  4. With Flat Head Screw Driver, unclip light located on the bottom of the Door panel, unplug and Remove.
  5. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip Door Panel, unplug and remove.
  6. Extract (3) Phillips Head Screws Securing Speaker, unplug and Remove.

Rear Door Speaker Removal

  1. With Flat Head Screw Driver, unclip Screw Cover Inside Door Handle and Extract (1) Phillips Head Screw.
  2. With Flat Head Screw Driver, unclip Screw Cover Inside Door Grip and Extract (1) Phillips Head Screw.
  3. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip Door panel, Unplug and Remove.
  4. Extract (3) Phillips Head Screws Securing Speaker, unplug and Remove.

Subwoofer Removal

The trunk area is shown after the subwoofer has been removed, exposing the mounting location and wiring harness.

  1. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip (2) plastic screws securing plastic moldings covering back seats locking mechanism, unclip plastic moldings and remove.
  2. Remove door seal from rear doors, just enough to clear side panels.
  3. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip top portion of the lower side panels, just enough to clear the top side panels.
  4. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip upper side panels and remove. Be careful, there's an airbag below these panels.
  5. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip Rear Deck Panel, unplug and remove.
  6. Extract (5) 10mm screws securing Subwoofer, unplug and remove.

Amplifier Removal

The amplifier, located beneath the front passenger seat, is shown with its mounting screws and wiring harness accessible.

  1. Pull Front Passengers seat forward, lift carpet to reveal (2) screws and extract (2) 10mm screws securing Amplifier.
  2. With Panel Removal Tool, unclip (2) plastic clips securing harness onto the Amplifier's bracket.
  3. Unplug Amplifier, lift and remove.
