Features of Epson Classroom Connect

Epson Classroom Connect allows you to perform a variety of tasks useful for teaching, such as projecting images using a projector connected to your device.

Intuitive User Experience

Epson Classroom Connect enables you to perform a series of operations in simple steps. You can also easily connect your device to the projector and project images.

  • To mirror your device screen, you need to install the Chrome system extension "Epson Classroom Connect Extension".
  • Audio can also be reproduced for the projected screen using projector mirroring.

Easily Save Drawing Data

By saving the data you draw during class, you can review the content later or share it with students as teaching materials. Since drawing data is saved on your device, you can easily reuse it in your lessons.

Easily Connect to Projectors

You can connect to the projector using a connection code, IP address, or QR code displayed on the projector screen. If you want to reconnect to a projector, you can easily do so from the connection history displayed in Epson Classroom Connect.

Follow these instructions before connecting your computer to the projector over the network.

Installing the Application

Follow these instructions to install the Epson Classroom Connect application on Google Play.

  • Ensure you are installing the latest application on Google Play.
  • Update the application if necessary to have the latest version after installation.
  • Update the Chromebook device's operating system to the latest version.

Requirements for Epson Classroom Connect

Your computer must meet the following system requirements to run Epson Classroom Connect.

Installing the Epson Classroom Connect Application

Follow these instructions to install the Epson Classroom Connect application on your computer.

  1. Turn on your computer. Ensure you are logged into the account that will use the application.
  2. If necessary, install the Google Play Store application.
  3. Find and install the Epson Classroom Connect application from the Google Play Store.
  4. Install the "Epson Classroom Connect Extension" Chrome system extension from the Chrome Web Store. To share your screen using the projector, you must install the "Epson Classroom Connect Extension" Chrome system extension.

Selecting Projector Network Settings

If you have not customized the network settings for your projectors, you need to set up the projector before using Epson Classroom Connect software. Follow these instructions when selecting how to connect your computer and projector, and then set up the projector.

Setting Up the Projector for Wireless LAN Connection

To connect your computer to the projector via wireless LAN, you need to select network settings on your computer and projector. The required settings vary depending on the projector. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.

  1. Contact your network administrator and note the access point settings, such as SSID and security settings.
  2. Configure the network settings so that your computer can connect to the network. If you need to establish a network connection, refer to the documentation supplied with your computer or network adapter. Refer to your Computer User Guide for details.
  3. If necessary, install the wireless LAN unit in the projector. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.
  4. Turn on the projector.
  5. Press the [Menu] button on the remote control or control panel and select the Network menu.
  6. Turn on Wireless LAN.
  7. Turn off the Simple AP setting. The required settings vary depending on the projector. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions. You may be able to connect even if Simple AP is enabled, depending on your computer.
  8. If necessary, select other network settings. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.
  9. If necessary, select other network security settings. For more information on selecting the correct settings, consult your network administrator. To enable the save function, set the projector's web control password.
  10. When you have finished with the settings, save the settings and exit the menu.

Setting Up the Projector for Wired LAN Connection

To connect your computer to the projector via wired LAN, you need to select network settings on your computer and projector.

  1. Configure network settings so that your computer can connect to the network. If you need to establish a network connection, refer to the documentation supplied with your computer or network adapter. Refer to your Computer User Guide for details.
  2. Connect the LAN cable to the projector.
  3. Turn on the projector.
  4. Press the [Menu] button on the remote control or control panel and select the Network menu.
  5. Set DHCP to Off, then if necessary, enter values for the projector's IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway address.
  6. When you have finished with the settings, save the settings and exit the menu.

Connecting to the Projector and Image Projection

Follow these instructions to connect your computer and projector over the network and project images onto your computer screen using the projector.

First Connection of Epson Classroom Connect Software

When using Epson Classroom Connect for the first time, use one of the following methods to connect the projector:

  • Connect using the connection code.
  • Connect using the IP address.
  • Connect using the QR code.
  • If you enter an incorrect connection code 10 times in a row, the screen will lock. Wait a moment, then try entering it again.
  • To share your screen using the projector, you need to install the Chrome system extension "Epson Classroom Connect Extension". Install the "Epson Classroom Connect Extension" Chrome system extension from the Chrome Web Store if necessary.

Connecting to the Projector Using the Connection Code

Enter the connection code displayed on the projector into the Epson Classroom Connect software to connect to the projector.

  1. Turn on the projector.
  2. Launch Epson Classroom Connect.
  3. Press the Home button on the projector's remote control to display the home screen.
  4. Enter the four- or six-digit number displayed at the top of the projector's home screen, and then press Connect.
  5. When the ChromeOS screen appears confirming that you want to start screen sharing, press Share. To output audio, enable audio when sharing the screen.

Connecting to the Projector Using the IP Address

If connecting using the connection code is not possible, or if you want to connect to a projector on a different network, enter the IP address displayed on the projector into the Epson Classroom Connect software. When the projector's keyword is enabled, you will be prompted to enter the keyword when connecting via IP address or from connection history. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.

  1. Turn on the projector.
  2. Launch Epson Classroom Connect.
  3. Press the Home button on the projector's remote control to display the home screen.
  4. Press Try another way displayed in Epson Classroom Connect. Select Connect using IP address to display the screen for entering the IP address.
  5. Enter one of the IP addresses displayed at the top of the projector's home screen, and then press Connect.
  6. When the ChromeOS screen appears confirming that you want to start screen sharing, press Share. To output audio, enable audio when sharing the screen.

Connecting the Projector by Reading the QR Code

If you cannot connect using the connection code, or if you want to connect to a projector on a different network, read the QR code displayed by the projector in Epson Classroom Connect.

  1. Turn on the projector.
  2. Launch Epson Classroom Connect.
  3. Press the Home button on the projector's remote control to display the home screen.
  4. Select LAN as the input source for projection on the projector's home screen. The QR code may also be displayed on the projector's guide screen.
  5. Press Try another way displayed in Epson Classroom Connect. Select Connect using QR code to display the screen for entering the QR code.
  6. Connect by reading the QR code displayed on the projector's LAN screen.
  7. When the ChromeOS screen appears confirming that you want to start screen sharing, press Share. To output audio, enable audio when sharing the screen.

Connecting to the Projector from Connection History

When you want to connect to a projector you have previously connected to, you can do so from the connection history displayed in Epson Classroom Connect. When the projector's keyword is enabled, you will be prompted to enter the keyword when connecting via IP address or from connection history. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.

  1. Turn on the projector.
  2. Launch Epson Classroom Connect.
  3. Select the projector you want to connect to from Connection History.
  4. Select Connect.
  5. When the ChromeOS screen appears confirming that you want to start screen sharing, press Share. To output audio, enable audio when sharing the screen.

Managing Screen Projection

You can manage projected images using the toolbar.

Interactive Feature

You can write notes on the projected screen using your finger or an interactive pen. Refer to the Projector User Guide for instructions.

  • A: Save Drawing Data.
  • B: Switch to Drawing Mode. Set the "Notes Mode" or "Whiteboard Mode" setting to On, then write or draw on the projection surface.
  • C: Switches to PC Interactive Mode. Set "PC Interactivity" to On to control your computer with your finger or an interactive pen. The Epson Classroom Connect application displays buttons to switch to PC interactive mode, but you cannot control your computer with a pen or finger from the projected screen.

Creating a Projector Nickname

After connecting, you can assign a unique name (nickname) for managing the projector.

  1. Launch Epson Classroom Connect.
  2. From Connection History, select the projector you want to assign a nickname to.

Pinning Frequently Used Connection Environments

You can pin and fix the display position of projector connection environments that you frequently use. Launch Epson Classroom Connect. In Connection History, select the projector whose position you want to fix and click the pin icon. When the pin icon turns yellow-green, the setting is complete. Up to 4 projectors can be pinned.

Saving Drawing Data

Press the Save button displayed on the projector screen to save the drawing data to your device. Each time you press the Save button on the projection screen, the projected image is saved as an image. When you finish connecting to the projector, or when you press the Save button 10 times, Epson Classroom Connect will create a .pptx file containing all the saved images, and you can check this .pptx file in the Downloads folder. If Epson Classroom Connect fails to create the .pptx file due to a forced shutdown or other reason, the .pptx file will be created the next time the application is launched. Try these solutions depending on your network environment.

Solutions if Connection to the Internet is Not Possible After Connecting to the Projector

When connecting the projector in Simple AP mode, you may not be able to connect to the internet. Check if the projectors are connected to a wired LAN or a wireless LAN access point.

Solutions if Connection Using the Connection Code is Not Possible

If connecting using the connection code is not possible, try one of the following:

  • Enter the IP address into the Epson Classroom Connect application and connect. Enter one of the IP addresses displayed at the top of the projector's home screen.
  • Scan the QR code using the Epson Classroom Connect application and connect. Connect by reading the QR code displayed on the projector's LAN screen.

Solutions if You Cannot Connect to Projectors (Wireless)

If you cannot connect your computer and projector via a wireless network, try the following solutions. If you cannot resolve the problem, contact your network administrator.

  • Check the status of external devices used for the network connection or the environment where the projector is located.
  • Firmly connect the wireless LAN unit to the projector. Refer to the Projector User Guide for details.
  • Check for obstacles between the access point and the computer or projector, and change their positions to improve communication. Sometimes the internal environment prevents the projector from being found during searches.
  • Check if the access point and the computer or projector are too far apart. Move them closer and try connecting again.
  • Check for interference from devices like Bluetooth devices or microwave ovens. Move devices that cause interference or expand the wireless network bandwidth.
  • Set the radio strength for network devices to maximum.
  • Correctly set the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address for the access point.
  • Check if the wireless LAN system of the access point supports the projector's wireless LAN system.
  • Check the projector's network settings.
  • Set the computer, access point, and projector to the same SSID.
  • Correctly set the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address for the access point and projector.
  • If necessary, enable the wireless LAN setting.
  • Set up the wireless LAN system to comply with the standards supported by the access point.
  • When enabling security settings, set the same password for the access point, computer, and projector.
  • Close the network settings on the projector.
  • Check your computer's network settings.
  • Ensure you are using a computer that has a wireless LAN connection.
  • If necessary, enable the wireless LAN setting.
  • Connect to the same access point as the projector.
  • Set access point permissions to allow projectors to connect if any connection-blocking features, such as MAC address filtering or port restrictions, are enabled for the access point.
  • Check the software settings.
  • If connecting to the projector using the connection code fails, select Try another way on this screen.

Solutions if You Cannot Connect to Projectors (Wired)

If you cannot connect your computer and projector via a wired network, try the following solutions. If you cannot resolve the problem, contact your network administrator.

  • Firmly connect the network cable.

Solutions if the Projected Image Does Not Move Smoothly

If the projected image freezes or does not move smoothly, try the following solutions.

  • Select "Use bandwidth" from the settings.
  • Connect the computer and projector using LAN cables.

Solutions if Audio is Not Played Correctly

If the audio output from the projector is interrupted or there is a significant delay between the image and the projected image's audio, adjust the projector's A/V sync setting. For details, refer to the Projector Manual Update Information or the Projector User Guide.

Connection Screen

When you launch Epson Classroom Connect, the connection selection screen is displayed.

A: Opens the Settings screen.

B: Allows selection of another connection method if connecting the projector using the connection code fails.

C: Enter the connection code (four- or six-digit number) displayed at the top of the projector's home screen.

D: Specify the folder name for saving drawing data. The save folder will be created in the Downloads folder on your computer.

E: Displays projectors you have previously connected to.

F: Start screen sharing with the connected projector.

G: If you press this button while connected to the projector, the connection will be terminated.

H: Enter a nickname for managing the projector.

I: Frequently used projectors can be pinned to the top of the connection history. Click the pin again to unpin it. You can pin up to four projectors.

Connecting to the Projector Using Other Connection Methods

If connecting to the projector using the connection code fails, select another connection method on this screen.

A: Enter one of the IP addresses (wired or wireless) displayed at the top of the projector's home screen, and then connect the projector.

B: Connect by reading the QR code displayed on the projector's LAN screen. The QR code may also be displayed on the projector's guide screen.

Settings Screen

Press the gear icon on the connection screen to display the settings screen. Settings can be changed without connecting to the projector.

A: Enable this to allow Epson to collect application usage data.

B: Controls the data transfer bandwidth. When you select a narrower bandwidth, the quality of the projected image may decrease, but the network load also decreases.

C: Enable this to share your main device's screen as soon as it connects to the projector.

D: Switch between displaying/hiding the connection history for previously connected projectors.

E: Displays information about the Epson Classroom Connect software version.

Uninstalling Epson Classroom Connect

Follow the instructions below to uninstall Epson Classroom Connect.

Connection Limitations

Please note the following limitations when using Epson Classroom Connect.

  • If the wireless LAN transmission speed is slow, the network connection may be unexpectedly interrupted.
  • Sometimes the image on your computer screen and the projected image do not match exactly.
  • Movies are not played as smoothly as on a computer.

Limitations on Chromebook Devices

Depending on the operating system, the following limitations may apply when using the Epson Classroom Connect application on a Chromebook device.

  • When you try to launch the Epson Classroom Connect application using another application's sharing function, it may not launch, or even if it launches, files may not be read correctly.
  • Switching between laptop and tablet modes during operation is not supported.
  • Pop-up messages may not appear.
