Minimizing Heat Loss and Energy Saving Tips
- Always keep the cover on the pool to prevent heat loss when heating the spa after each use (but not during use). To maximize thermal insulation, ensure the cover lies flat according to the manufacturer's instructions. It is recommended to keep the cover away from the ground when not needed to prevent contamination (especially the surface facing the spa water). The cover should be stored in a suitable place where it will not be damaged or cause damage.
- Check the set water temperature and plan to lower the temperature for times when the spa is normally not in use.
- Depending on ambient conditions, you may want to turn off the heating completely if the spa is not used for a long time (if the spa offers this option, while maintaining residual disinfection or pH levels).
- Remember that the comfortable temperature range is lower than the safe maximum temperature.
- Use the supplied floor insulation mat under the spa to prevent heat loss from the spa floor.
- Keep the filters clean so the pump remains in optimal operating condition and unnecessary water replacement and heating is avoided.
Maintenance and Chemicals
WARNING: Always unplug the unit before cleaning, replacing, or servicing.
Water Care
The whirlpool owner must check and adjust the water balance regularly (daily if necessary). Adding disinfectant kills viruses and bacteria. Maintaining proper water balance using suitable disinfectants is the most important factor for ensuring clean, healthy, and harmless water. It also extends the life of your whirlpool. Proper water testing and treatment are important. For questions about chemicals, test kits, and testing procedures, consult your pool and whirlpool specialist.
CAUTION: Always follow the chemical manufacturer's instructions and warnings.
Do not add chemicals while the pool is in use, as skin and eye irritation may occur. Concentrated chlorine solutions can damage the whirlpool. In no case can Intex or its subsidiaries, service centers, retailers, or employees be held responsible for costs incurred due to water loss, poor water quality, or incorrect chemical use.
Whirlpool Water and Filter Cartridge Care
Protect all pool users from potential waterborne diseases by keeping the spa water clean and disinfected. Ensure regular maintenance! To maintain clean water quality, follow this procedure:
- Check and clean the filter cartridge daily and replace the filter cartridge every 3 days.
- Unscrew the filter cartridge housing from the whirlpool wall and remove the cartridge. See Fig. 12.
- Clean the filter cartridge using a garden hose. If the filter cartridge remains dirty and discolored, it must be replaced. Keep spare filter cartridges on hand.
- Reinstall the clean filter cartridge into the filter cartridge housing and reassemble the housing with the cleaned cartridge into the whirlpool wall.
- Change the whirlpool water every two weeks. For details, see the "Whirlpool Draining" and "Whirlpool Cleaning" sections.
- Use pool chemicals to maintain clean water quality. Resulting damage from chemicals and incorrectly adjusted water values is not covered by the warranty.
- Users must shower before using the whirlpool.
Water Chemistry Balance
Maintain the whirlpool water pH between 6.8 and 7.6, total alkalinity between 60 and 120 ppm, and chlorine content between 2 and 4 ppm. Use the supplied test strips to test the whirlpool water before each use. These tests should be performed at least once a week, regardless.
Test strips can simultaneously measure free chlorine, pH, water hardness, and total alkalinity:
- Immerse the strip completely in water and remove it immediately.
- Hold the strip for 15 seconds (do not shake off excess water).
- Compare the strip's free chlorine, pH, and total alkalinity fields with the colors on the packaging label.
Note: Check the expiration date of the test strips, as test results may be inaccurate if used after the expiration date.
A low pH value can damage the whirlpool and pump. Damage caused by incorrectly adjusted water values is not covered by the warranty.
Use the supplied chlorine dispenser (chlorine tablet diameter: less than 2.5 cm) in the whirlpool water. Place one tablet in the dispenser. Always follow the chemical manufacturer's instructions. Remove the chlorine dispenser when using the whirlpool.
Never let chlorine come into contact with the whirlpool unless the chlorine is fully dissolved. Rinse all lines with pre-treated water for one hour daily by activating the bubble function.
Important: Press the button on the control unit to turn on the air blower. This helps to better dissolve the water treatment agents in the whirlpool.
Never mix different chemicals. Always add chemicals individually to the whirlpool water. Always ensure the chemical is fully dissolved before adding the next one to the water.

When using alternative disinfectants, other appropriate parameters may apply.
a National regulations and guidelines should be observed regarding deviations.
b Natural water sources can cause water discoloration.
c Intentional water discoloration is excluded.
d If organic compounds are used, this value may be higher.
e Depending on the flocculant(s) used (if applicable).
f If the pH is above 7.5, the free active chlorine content is below 50%.
g The generally recommended concentration of free chlorine in water is 0.3 to 1.5 mg/l. To maintain hygiene in spa water, where the water is heated and the ratio of water volume to the number of users is low, a temporary exceeding of this concentration by manual dosing is permissible, provided it does not endanger user health. Therefore, a concentration between 2.0 and 4.0 mg/l is acceptable. This is also recommended by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (CDC). Do not use cyanuric acid.
h A temporary exceeding by manual dosing and a low ratio of water volume to the number of users is permissible, provided it does not pose a risk to user health.
Special care must be taken with chemical water treatment, especially observing disinfectant limits and controlling pH values. The use of ozone or UV, where applicable, should always be accompanied by residual disinfection with an oxidizing biocide (such as chlorine or bromine or other biocide products according to manufacturer recommendations).
Improper use of chemicals can lead to deterioration, damage, or other defects on spa surfaces and other spa components (typically discoloration of materials or corrosion of metal parts).
Free Chlorine: This is the residual chlorine content in the whirlpool water.
- Consequence if too low: Insufficient disinfection.
- Consequence if too high: Causes odors, skin and eye irritation, corrosion of metal parts and other materials.
pH: This indicates how acidic or alkaline the whirlpool water is.
- Consequence if too low: Rusted metal parts, eye and skin irritation, destruction of total alkalinity.
- Consequence if too high: Scale formation, cloudy water, shorter filter/heater cycles, skin and eye irritation, poor chlorine effectiveness.
Total Alkalinity (TA): Indicates the level of water resistance to pH changes. It determines the speed and ease of pH adjustment, so always adjust total alkalinity before adjusting the pH level.
- Consequence if too low: Rusted metal parts, eye and skin irritation. Low alkalinity leads to unstable pH.
- Consequence if too high: Scale formation, cloudy water, shorter filter/heater cycles, skin and eye irritation, consequence of high chlorine demand.
Calcium Hardness (CaCO3): Refers to the amount of calcium and magnesium dissolved in the water.
- Consequence if too low: Water balance problems, corrosion of metal parts, eye and skin irritation, and foamy water.
- Consequence if too high: Scale formation, cloudy water, skin and eye irritation, water balance problems, and inefficiency of the filter/heating element.
Saturation Index (SI): Temperature, calcium hardness/concentration, total alkalinity, and pH value are the main factors influencing scale formation. Whether the water tends to form scale or cause corrosion is indicated by the saturation index (SI):
SI = pH + TF + CF + AF - 12.1
(Where TF = Temperature Factor; CF = Calcium Hardness Factor; AF = Total Alkalinity Factor)
Water Temperature | TF | Calcium Hardness (ppm) | CF | Total Alkalinity (ppm) | AF | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
(°C) | (°F) | |||||
8 | 46 | 0.2 | 75 | 1.5 | 50 | 1.7 |
12 | 54 | 0.3 | 100 | 1.6 | 75 | 1.9 |
16 | 61 | 0.4 | 150 | 1.8 | 100 | 2.0 |
19 | 66 | 0.5 | 200 | 1.9 | 150 | 2.2 |
24 | 75 | 0.6 | 250 | 2.0 | 200 | 2.3 |
29 | 84 | 0.7 | 300 | 2.1 | 300 | 2.5 |
34 | 93 | 0.8 | 400 | 2.2 | 400 | 2.6 |
40 | 104 | 0.9 | 500 | 2.3 | -- |
Check the water's pH, temperature, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity. Use the corresponding factors in the SI equation.
- SI = 0: Balanced
- If SI > 0: Scale or cloudy water.
- If SI < 0: Corrosion of metals or skin and eye irritation.
The SI is considered satisfactory when the value is between -0.3 and +0.3. Zero is perfect.
Adjusting Whirlpool Water
To restore the chemical balance of the whirlpool water when values are outside the range:
CAUTION: Always follow the chemical manufacturer's instructions and health and risk warnings.
Adjusting Total Alkalinity (TA)
Remove the whirlpool cover to aerate the water and check the chemical values with the supplied test strips. First, ensure the chlorine level is between 2 to 4 ppm, as chlorine can affect the TA test result.
If TA (and not pH) is higher than 120 ppm, add the appropriate chemical to lower TA. If TA is lower than 60 ppm, add the appropriate chemical to increase TA.
NOTE: After adjustment, re-check the water after 24 hours and adjust chemical values further if necessary.
pH Adjustment
If total alkalinity has been lowered to 120 ppm or raised to 80 ppm, and the pH is still high or low, add the appropriate chemical to regulate the pH to 6.8 - 7.6.
Adjusting Calcium Hardness
Check water hardness with the supplied test strips and adjust it with a suitable chemical.
WARNING: Handle all chemicals with care and wear additional personal protective equipment, including safety goggles and gloves. It is extremely important not to splash acid on your skin, clothing, or in your eyes.
Maintenance
Draining the Whirlpool
- Turn off the spa control unit.
- Connect the drain valve adapter to a garden hose. Direct the other end of the garden hose to a suitable location for water disposal. See Fig. 13.
- Remove the cap of the outer drain valve and attach the drain valve adapter to the drain valve. See Fig. 13.
- Open the cover for the drain valve inside the whirlpool tub. Water will begin to drain through the garden hose.
- Once the water has drained, disconnect the whirlpool control unit from the whirlpool wall. Lift the whirlpool wall on the side opposite the drain to guide any remaining water into the drain and completely empty the whirlpool. See Fig. 14.
- Attach the filling hose (7) to the air blower valve on the control unit.
- Turn on the whirlpool and press the button, aligning the filling hose with the spa pool inlet/outlet and the spa control unit so that water in the pipes dries out. See Figures 15 & 16.
- Use a clean towel to absorb any remaining water and moisture from the whirlpool and control unit.
- Ensure the control unit and whirlpool tub are thoroughly dried. Note: The supplied caps (15) can be used to cover the water inlet and outlet connections inside the whirlpool to prevent water leakage.
Whirlpool Cleaning
If dirt is visible in the water, or if the water becomes cloudy and chemicals cannot dissolve the dirt, change the water and clean the whirlpool. See "Draining the Whirlpool" to learn how to drain the water.
When the whirlpool is empty, remove the filter housing from inside the whirlpool and clean or replace the filter cartridge. Use a sponge with a mild soap solution to remove dirt and stains inside the whirlpool. Rinse the whirlpool thoroughly before refilling with new water.
Important: Do not use steel wool, hard brushes, or abrasive cleaners.
Biofilm Removal
For products and advice on biofilm removal, consult your local spa dealer.
Securing the Whirlpool Air Valve
Before use, check the whirlpool air valve for leaks and tightness. If air is leaking from the air valve, use the supplied wrench (22) to tighten the air valve as follows:
- Ensure all air has been released from the whirlpool, open the air valve cover, and place the wrench (22) around the air valve body. See Fig. 17.
- Hold the back of the air valve base with one hand from the inside of the whirlpool wall and turn the wrench (22) clockwise.
Important: Never adjust the air valve base while the whirlpool is in use or filled with water. Use the air valve wrench only if the air valve is leaking. Do not overtighten the air valve (overtightening can damage the valve). Ensure it is properly closed and sealed.
Whirlpool Cover
Regularly check the whirlpool cover for leaks, premature wear, damage, or signs of aging. Never use a worn or damaged cover, as it will not provide the necessary protection against unauthorized use by children.
Clean the cover regularly, inside and out, with a sponge and a suitable solution for adequate disinfection (10 mg per liter of free chlorine). Do not use steel wool, hard brushes, or abrasive cleaners.
Maintenance (Continued)
Spa Surround
The barefoot areas and relaxation zones around the spa should be cleaned regularly. Cleaning water must not flow into the pool or the spa water circulation system. Dirt and cleaning agents must be drained exclusively via the spa surround.
Repairing the Whirlpool and Inflatable Whirlpool Cover
Use the supplied repair kit to repair small punctures or holes:
- Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be repaired.
- Remove the backing paper from the repair kit and press the patch firmly onto the hole. Smooth the surface to remove any air bubbles under the patch.
Storage
In areas prone to frost, the spa and all associated components must be drained, cleaned, disassembled, and stored properly if the temperature drops below 4°C (39°F).
- Drain and clean the whirlpool according to the "Draining the Whirlpool" and "Whirlpool Cleaning" sections.
- Reverse the assembly instructions to deflate the whirlpool tub and inflatable whirlpool cover, and disassemble both, including the whirlpool control unit.
- To deflate the whirlpool tub and inflatable whirlpool cover:
- Open the drain screw (27) with the supplied wrench (6) (see Fig. 18).
- Insert the drain adapter (28) into the air outlet.
- Connect the filling hose (7) to the drain adapter (28).
- Insert the other end of the filling hose into the air valve of the whirlpool tub or the inflatable whirlpool cover.
- Press the button to release the air.
- Once the air has been released as per the above steps, ensure the drain screw (27) is securely fastened. Caution: Use only for the purpose described in this manual. Keep the filling hose away from water or small objects when the deflation function is active to prevent damage to the blower motor.
Ensure all whirlpool parts and accessories are thoroughly cleaned and dried before storing the whirlpool. Dry the whirlpool in the air in the sun for about an hour before folding it.
Loosely fold the whirlpool, avoiding sharp corners, to prevent damage and leakage onto the ground cloth.
Keep new filter cartridges ready for the next use.
Store the whirlpool and accessories indoors in a dry, temperature-controlled location between 0° – 40°C (32° - 104°F).
The original packaging can be used for storage.
