Claims must be processed by the dealer from whom the bicycle was purchased. If this is not possible, contact BH for assistance in finding an authorized dealer: https://www.bhbikes.com/es_INT/quienes-somos/contacto.
03 Maintenance
This section provides important information for the GRAVELX RACING and GRAVELX ALL TERRAIN models. Refer to https://www.bhbikes.com/manuals for general model manuals and https://www.bhbikes.com/manuals for additional information. Check third-party part websites for their specific recommendations.
Inspect the Bicycle Before Use
Bicycles undergo inspections during manufacturing and final checks. Before each ride, perform the following checks, as transport or modifications may affect operation:
- FRAME: Check for cracks, damage, or strange noises.
- CHAIN: Ensure it is lubricated and the transmission system operates quietly.
- BRAKES: Verify proper function. Press brake levers firmly when stopped to ensure they do not reach the handlebars.
- TYRES: Check correct pressure and inspect for cuts on the tread and sides. Ensure wear levels do not exceed recommendations.
- WHEELS: Ensure wheels rotate freely and are centered. Check brake lining-to-rim clearance and frame-to-tyre clearance.
- STEERING: Confirm smooth operation without strange noises.
- SWINGARM ROTATION POINTS: When weight is applied, suspension should function as expected without strange noises. Play or improper function may indicate incorrect torque or worn bearings.
- BEARINGS: Ensure bearings operate smoothly. Replace worn bearings to prevent damage to other components.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: If applicable, check electrical assistance mode, motor, display, assistance mode changes, and speed sensor. If no assistance is present, verify connections and check for damage.
Do not ride if any of these points are not met, as a faulty bicycle can cause serious accidents. If unsure, contact your nearest BH workshop.
Warning: Failure to check tightening torques as per recommendations can lead to accidents and death. Dynamic loads subject bicycle parts to stress, causing fatigue and wear. Regularly check for signs of wear, scratches, bends, finish wear, or cracks. Parts may fail after their service life; have them replaced by an authorized BH workshop.
Keep the Bicycle Clean
Follow these basic prevention measures for optimal bicycle condition. Failure to do so can lead to premature wear or breakages:
- Clean dust and mud with a damp sponge and a mild, neutral cleaning product.
- Wash plastic parts with soapy water only.
- Wash tyres with a sponge or brush and soapy water.
- Dry the bicycle thoroughly with a soft cloth after cleaning.
- Lubricate transmission elements after each cleaning.
Caution: Dirt can cause damage leading to accidents or death. Never use pressure washers or steam cleaners.
Keep the Transmission Lubricated at All Times
Washing can remove chain lubrication. Inspect and lubricate chain links as needed. Excess lubrication attracts dirt, causing premature wear and system malfunction. Never use pressure washers or steam cleaners.
Part Maintenance
Regular maintenance and inspections are crucial. Maintenance frequency depends on usage (leisure, road, mountain) and conditions.

Spare Parts
Use original parts for optimal performance and safety. Failure to do so may result in damage not covered by warranty. Common spare parts include tyres, inner tubes, brake pads, disc brakes, rims, headlights, position lights, batteries, and accumulators.
- TYRES: Replace with equivalent ETRTO standard tyres. Ensure sufficient clearance (at least 6mm) between the tyre and frame/fork to prevent accidents.
- INNER TUBES: Use suitable types according to the tyre's ETRTO standard.
- DISC BRAKES AND BRAKE PADS: Follow manufacturer instructions.
- HEADLIGHTS AND POSITION LIGHTS: Replace bulbs with the same type.
- CHAIN, COG AND CHAIN RINGS: Follow manufacturer instructions.
- BATTERIES AND ACCUMULATORS: Replace with the same type.
Warning: Using non-original parts may cause damage not covered by warranty.
After a Fall, Blow or Impact
If you experience a fall, blow, or impact, first ensure you are okay to continue. Do not ride if injured; seek medical assistance if needed. If able to continue, inspect the bicycle thoroughly:
- Wheels: Ensure they are securely fastened and centered. Check wheel rotation and brake clearance. If the gap is too small, adjust brakes.
- Handlebars/Frame: Check for twists or breaks. Ensure the front is firmly seated on the fork.
- Chain: Verify correct fitment. If the bicycle fell on the transmission side, check its operation. Ensure proper clearance between the largest cog and spokes. Bent gears or brackets can cause the chain to snag on spokes, leading to falls. Check the derailleur; if shifted, the chain may come off.
- Frame/Saddle/Bottom Bracket: Inspect for defects.
- Bolts: Lift the bicycle and drop it gently. Listen for noises indicating loose bolts.
- General Inspection: Re-check the entire bicycle for bent areas, worn finish, or cracks.
Ride cautiously after inspection. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and pedaling uphill. If unsure, seek assistance. Inspect again at home. If still uncertain, contact a BH workshop.
Note: Bent aluminum parts must not be straightened; they must be replaced due to the high risk of breakage.
04 Warnings on Use
Maximum Tyre Size
If installing a different tyre size, ensure at least 6 mm of clearance between the tyre and frame/fork parts.
Minimum and Maximum Insertion Length of the Seat Post
Failure to adhere to the specified seat post insertion dimensions can create a lever effect on the frame, potentially causing damage and serious accidents. Such damage is not covered by warranty.
Maximum Fork Length (Axle-to-Crown)
Observe the maximum axle-to-crown length for the fork. Exceeding this limit can damage the frame due to excessive load, leading to serious accidents.
Maximum Number of Steering Spacers
Adhere to the maximum number of steering spacers specified for fitting under the stem. Exceeding this limit can damage materials due to excessive load, leading to serious accidents.
Position of the Spindle Inside the Fork Tube
No steering spacers should be fitted above the stem, as this can damage materials due to excessive load, leading to serious accidents.
Intended Use
Each bicycle is designed for a specific purpose. The models in this manual are intended for use on asphalt roads, with wheels always maintaining contact with the running surface.
