03 MAINTENANCE
This section provides crucial information for the maintenance of your BH Ultralight bicycle (LR906 / LR806 / LR706 / LR606). Refer to the BH Bikes website for comprehensive manuals and third-party component information.
Inspect the Bicycle Before Use
Before each ride, perform the following checks to ensure the bicycle is in optimal working condition:
- FRAME: Check for cracks, damage, or unusual noises.
- CHAIN: Ensure it is lubricated and the transmission operates quietly.
- BRAKES: Verify proper function. Squeeze brake levers firmly; they should not touch the handlebars.
- TYRES: Check correct pressure and inspect for cuts on the tread or sidewalls. Ensure the wear level is within limits.
- WHEELS: Ensure wheels rotate freely. Check brake lining-to-rim clearance and frame-to-tyre clearance.
- STEERING: Confirm smooth, noise-free steering operation.
- SWINGARM ROTATION POINTS: Verify suspension functions correctly and without noise under load. Any play may indicate incorrect torque or worn bearings.
- BEARINGS: Ensure bearings operate smoothly and quietly. Replace worn bearings to prevent damage to associated components.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (if applicable): Check that the electrical assistance mode is active and all components (motor, display, sensors) function correctly. Ensure connections are secure and undamaged.
Important: Do not ride the bicycle if any of these checks fail. A faulty bicycle can cause serious accidents. Consult your nearest BH workshop if unsure.
Failure to adhere to recommended tightening torques can lead to accidents and death. Dynamic loads subject bicycle parts to stress, leading to fatigue and wear. Regularly inspect for signs of wear, scratches, bends, or cracks. Parts may fail suddenly after their service life; regular servicing by an authorized BH workshop is recommended.
Keep the Bicycle Clean
Follow these basic cleaning measures for optimal performance and to prevent premature wear:
- Clean dust and mud with a damp sponge and a mild, neutral cleaning product.
- Plastic parts should only be washed with soapy water.
- Tyres can be cleaned with a sponge or brush and soapy water.
- After cleaning, dry the bicycle thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- Lubricate transmission elements after each cleaning.
Caution: Dirt can cause damage and lead to accidents. Never use pressure washers or steam cleaners.
Keep the Transmission Lubricated at All Times
Washing the bicycle can remove chain lubrication. Inspect and lubricate chain links as needed. Excessive lubrication can attract dirt, causing premature wear and operational issues. Never use pressure washers or steam cleaners.

Spare Parts
Use original parts for optimal performance and safety. Non-original parts may cause damage not covered by warranty. Common wear parts include tyres, inner tubes, brake pads, disc brakes, rims (if part of the brake unit), headlights, position lights, batteries, and accumulators.
- TYRES: Replace with equivalent types, checking the ETRTO standard. Using tyres with a larger outer diameter than recommended can cause interference with the frame or fork, leading to loss of control and accidents.
- INNER TUBES: Replace with suitable types according to the tyre, referencing the ETRTO standard on the inner tube.
- DISC BRAKES AND BRAKE PADS: Follow manufacturer instructions.
- HEADLIGHTS AND POSITION LIGHTS: Replace bulbs with the same type.
- CHAIN, COG, AND CHAIN RINGS: Follow manufacturer instructions.
- BATTERIES AND ACCUMULATORS: Replace with the same type.
Failure to use original parts may result in damage not covered by the warranty.
After a Fall, Blow or Impact
If you experience a fall, blow, or impact:
- Ensure you are fit to continue cycling. Seek medical assistance if injured.
- If fit to continue, thoroughly inspect the bicycle for proper working order:
- Wheels: Check secure fastening and centering. Ensure brakes allow free wheel rotation.
- Handlebars/Frame: Inspect for twists or breaks. Check the front is firmly seated on the fork.
- Chain: Verify correct fitment and transmission operation, especially after a fall on the drive side. Check gear-to-spoke clearance.
- Other Components: Inspect saddle, upper tube, and bottom bracket box for defects.
- General Check: Lift and drop the bicycle slightly to listen for loose bolts. Inspect the entire bicycle for bends, worn finishes, or cracks.
- If no issues are detected, ride cautiously, avoiding sudden braking or acceleration. If unsure, do not ride. Inspect the bicycle again at home and consult a BH workshop if concerns persist.
Note: Bent aluminum parts must not be straightened as they pose a high risk of breakage. Replace them for safety.
04 WARNINGS ON USE
- MAXIMUM TYRE SIZE: Ensure at least 6 mm clearance between the tyre and frame/fork parts when installing different-sized tyres.
- MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM INSERTION LENGTH OF THE SEAT POST: Failure to adhere to these dimensions can cause a lever effect on the frame, leading to damage and accidents. Such damage is not covered by warranty.
- MAXIMUM FORK LENGTH (AXLE-TO-CROWN): Observe the specified maximum length to prevent frame damage and potential accidents.
- MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STEERING SPACERS: Do not exceed the specified number of steering spacers fitted under the stem to prevent material damage and accidents.
- POSITION OF THE SPINDLE INSIDE THE FORK TUBE: No steering spacers should be fitted above the stem to avoid material damage and accidents.
- INTENDED USE: This bicycle is designed for operation on asphalt roads, with wheels always in contact with the running surface.
