Simply download the free Nakamichi App or Caradio App to experience the full benefits of Nakamichi Car Audio, an innovation designed for safe driving and a wonderful on-road experience.
Nakamichi App (for Android)
Install “Nakamichi” App
From QR code
- Ensure your smart phone has a QR code camera installed.
- Turn on the QR code camera and scan the QR code displayed in the manual. This will provide a link to download the “Nakamichi” App.
Android Phone
Download and install “Nakamichi” App from the Google Play Store.
Initial Start Up
- Turn on the Car Head Unit. The Car Head Unit device name is “Nakamichi”.
- Click on the “Nakamichi” App icon on your phone screen.
- Click on the “OK” button to search for devices.
- Click on the “Nakamichi” App to connect.
- Confirm that the Car Head Unit and smart phone are connected successfully.
Check Bluetooth connection status via Car Head Unit
- If the Bluetooth icon (a stylized 'B' symbol) is lit on the display, the Car Head Unit and smart phone are connected via Bluetooth.
- Check the profile connection status by accessing the “BT MODE” menu on the Car Head Unit. The display will show:
- Connected Smart Phone Device name.
- “HFP” (Handfree Profile is connected).
- “A2DP” (Audio Streaming Profile is connected).
- “APPS” (APPS Profile is connected).
2-Way Control
Car Head Unit controls App
The Car Head Unit can control the Nakamichi App or Smart Phone.
- Press and hold the “SRC” (Source or APP HOME) button on the Car Head Unit.
- After exiting the Nakamichi App, to use the 2-Way control function again, start the Nakamichi App and the Car Head Unit. The smart phone will connect automatically via Bluetooth.
- If Bluetooth connection fails or disconnects, click “Connect” to connect manually. If it fails a second time, press and hold “Connect” to select the Bluetooth device and connect again. The Car Head Unit cannot automatically connect with the Nakamichi App; the Nakamichi App must be started first for auto-connection.

The Nakamichi App on your smart phone can control the Car Head Unit.
Shortcut Operation
- Press and hold any of the “+” button on the app screen.
- Select the third-party app from the smart phone to be added (e.g., “TUNEIN RADIO” app).
- To remove a third-party app, press and hold on the app until the “REMOVE SHORTCUT” screen pops up, or replace the current third-party app with another one.
Users can also add other apps as a shortcut inside the “Nakamichi” App, such as YouTube, XM/Sirius, Pandora, Spotify, Internet radio, TuneIn, GPS Navigation, etc. The audio output of these third-party apps can play through the car speaker system.
Exit “Nakamichi” App
- Press the return key (⮐) on the smart phone.
- Press “OK” to confirm the exit.
Nakamichi App Overview (for Android)
The Nakamichi App provides various functions for controlling your Car Head Unit:
- Music: Play music songs stored on your smart phone.
- Navi: Start Google Navigation. Click the app icon to quickly return to the Nakamichi App. When Google Navigation runs in the foreground with music playing in the background, set GPS Voice Mix to ON (via Car Head Unit MENU or app) to avoid interference between navigation voice and music. Requires Wi-Fi or network and GPS Location Service on the smart phone to be turned on. Some smart phones may not have Google Maps or Navigation functions; these can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
- Phone: Enjoy all phone functions, including contacts, histories, and favorites.
- Camera: Record Still Speed Camera and Traffic Light Camera locations by clicking “SAVE LOCATION”. If you re-enter the same location within 200 meters at high speed, an alarm will sound until you reduce speed. Clicking “STOP” on the alarm box will make the alarm sound and box vanish. Camera Alert will be off, but Camera Save Location function remains active. Requires GPS Location Service on the smart phone to be turned on and receive GPS signal normally. Camera data records can be checked and deleted in settings.
- Connect: Manually connect and disconnect smart phone and car head unit.
- Speed Limit: Define a speed limit. If the current speed exceeds the limit, an alarm will sound until speed is reduced.
- Compass: Display the direction while driving.
- Settings: Adjust various settings.
- Shortcut: Add shortcuts for third-party apps.
- Radio: Control radio functions of the Car Head Unit, including manual seek, auto store, and manual store.
- SD playback: Play music songs stored on the SD card plugged into the Car Head Unit.
- USB playback: Play music songs stored in the USB which is plugged into the Car Head Unit.
- AUX: Start the AUX In function of the Car Head Unit.
- Audio: Adjust the sound effect of the Car Head Unit (EQ, XBASS, DBSS, TONE, GPS Voice, FADER/BALANCE, SUBW).
Caradio App (for iPhone)
Install “Caradio” App
From QR code
- Ensure your iPhone has a QR code camera installed.
- Turn on the QR code camera and scan the QR code displayed in the manual. This will provide a link to download the “Caradio” App.
iPhone
Download and install “Caradio” App from the App Store (Note: Actual App Store ID not provided in PDF, placeholder used).
Initial Start Up
- Turn on Bluetooth in iPhone settings. The Car Head Unit device name is “Caradio”.
- Click on the “Caradio” App icon on your phone screen.
- Enter “0000” in the Pin code dialog to pair.
- Confirm that the Car Head Unit and iPhone are paired successfully.
- Click on the “Caradio” App icon again.
- Confirm “Caradio” is connecting with iPhone.
- Confirm “Caradio” and iPhone are connected successfully.
Important Notes for iPhone Connection
- If iPhone and Car Head Unit are not connected or paired via Bluetooth, starting the Caradio App will display “Car Head Unit has not been found”, indicating 2-way control is not enabled.
- Once the iPhone is paired, the Car Head Unit will automatically connect with iPhone Bluetooth every time it powers on.
