Installation Overview

The KMC10 features various inputs and outputs for connecting audio sources and amplification.

Unit Diagram and Connections:

The KMC10 unit has the following connections:

Operation

The KMC10 features intuitive controls for managing your audio sources and settings.

Button Layout and Functions:

The unit has the following primary buttons:

  • 1 - Source
  • 2 - Favorites
  • 3 - Menu
  • 4 - Back/Return
  • 5 - Seek/Tune Down
  • 6 - Play/Pause
  • 7 - Seek/Tune Up
  • 8 - Volume Knob

Basic Functions:

KMC10 Settings Menu:

To enter the Settings Menu, hold the MENU (3) button for 2 seconds. Rotate the knob to scroll through menu items and press the knob to select.

Available Settings:

  • Day/Night: Allows changing color scheme from Day to Night Mode. Defaults to auto-switch with lights. Can be set manually. Requires orange illumination wire connection for auto-switch.
  • Illumination: Turns ON or OFF the blue LED border around the screen.
  • Dimmer: Adjusts screen and button brightness from 0 to +10.
  • Background: Choose from 4 different wallpapers.
  • Low Battery: Disables the Low Battery Alert. Alert triggers below 10.5V.
  • Aux 1: Rename the AUX1 source with options like TV, NAV, MP3, MEDIA, and AUX.
  • Tuner: Change the tuner region (N. America, Latin America, Europe, Russia, Australia, Middle East, Asia, Japan).

Press the Source button to change sources. Rotate the knob to scroll and press to select.

USB1 Source:

The USB1 source automatically detects connected devices and reads iPod/iPhone/iPad, MP3/WMA files. Video files are not supported.

Aux1 Source:

The AUX1 Source allows for any connection via the Audio Left & Right RCA Input.

Bluetooth (BT) Source:

The Bluetooth Source is for music (A2DP) streaming only. The Bluetooth Device Name is "Media Center". No password is required. This unit does not offer the Hands-Free profile.

Favorites:

The Favorites button allows viewing and setting favorite stations from FM, AM, and WX sources. Up to 10 favorites can be set.

Setting a Favorite:

  1. Select the station you wish to add.
  2. Press the Favorites button and select the desired preset.
  3. Press and Hold the ENTER (8) button for 2 seconds to set.

Audio Settings:

Access the Audio Settings Menu by pressing the knob for 2 seconds from any source screen. Rotate the knob to scroll and press to select.

  • Bass: Adjusts from -6 to +6.
  • Mid: Adjusts from -6 to +6.
  • Treble: Adjusts from -6 to +6.
  • Balance: Adjusts from Left 10 to Right 10.
  • Fader: Adjusts from Front 10 to Rear 10.

Source Specific Menus:

Press and release the Menu button while in WX, USB, BT, or AUX sources to access Source Specific Menus. Rotate the knob to adjust and press to confirm.

WX Menu:

Auto-Alert: Turns Auto-Alert ON/OFF. This feature interrupts any source to tune to Weatherband for alerts. Default is ON.

USB1/iPod Menu:

  • BROWSE: Displays files/folders. Rotate knob to scroll, press to play selected track.
  • REPEAT: Select Repeat for Current Track, Repeat All Tracks, or Repeat Off.
  • SHUFFLE: Turns Shuffle tracks on and off.
  • SEARCH: Search files/folders on USB or iPod menu by Playlist, Artists, Songs, Genre, Compilations. Rotate knob to highlight characters, press enter to input. Press accept to populate matching items.
  • DME (Digital Music Enhancer): Enhances sound quality of compressed music files.

BLUETOOTH Menu:

  • ENTER PAIRING MODE: Places device in pairing mode. Device Name: "Media Center".
  • Pairing Instructions: 1. Ensure Bluetooth is ON on your device. 2. Search for "Media Center". 3. Connect/Trust to begin streaming.
  • DISCONNECT CURRENT DEVICE: Disconnects the currently paired device.
  • DELETE ALL DEVICES: Deletes all paired devices. Unit returns to pairing mode.
  • CONNECT LAST DEVICE: Connects to the last known paired Bluetooth device.
  • CHANGE BLUETOOTH NAME: Allows changing the Bluetooth name "Media Center" to a custom name (max 12 characters).

Troubleshooting

This checklist helps remedy common problems. Before proceeding, check connections and operating procedures. If issues persist, contact your local KICKER retailer or call 1-800-844-2774.

General Issues:

  • No power: Ensure 12V is supplied to the red wire and the black wire has a good ground. Press the Source button.
  • No Sound: Check if amplifiers are on. Ensure fader is in the middle (0) position.
  • Buttons not functioning: Perform Master Reset by holding the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds.

Radio Reception:

  • Stations cannot be received: Check antenna connection. Signal may be too weak. Ensure Tuner region is set correctly in Settings Menu.

RDS:

  • RDS Information not displayed: Current station may not be RDS. RDS data may not have been received.

USB Playback:

  • Cannot play via USB hub: Unit does not recognize USB devices via a USB hub.
  • USB device takes longer to play back: Device may have a complicated file tree structure.
  • Sound is intermittent: Sound may be intermittent at high bit-rates (over 320 kbps).

Optional accessories enhance the functionality of the KMC10 Media Center.

KRC15 Wired Remote:

A wired remote for the KMC media center. Completely water-proof, mountable at any location for convenient access. For information on obtaining the KRC15, contact KICKER or your local retailer.

PXIRCX Wired Remote:

A wired remote for the KMC media center. Completely water-proof, mountable at any location for convenient access. For information on obtaining the PXIRCX, contact KICKER or your local retailer.

Warranty Information

Electronics Limited Warranty (including KICKER Accessories):

CPS warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original purchase with receipt, when purchased from an Authorized KICKER Dealer. For "Refurbished" or "B Goods" products, the warranty is limited to THREE (3) MONTHS. The original receipt is required in all cases.

CPS will repair or replace defective merchandise with equivalent merchandise due to manufacturing defects or malfunctions during the warranty period, at CPS's discretion. Warranty replacements may have cosmetic scratches or blemishes. Discontinued products may be replaced with current equivalent products. Warranty is valid only for the original purchaser.

Any applicable implied warranties are limited in duration to the express warranty period, beginning with the date of original purchase. No other warranties, express or implied, shall apply thereafter.
