Overview
The KMC4 Media Center features a digital display and several control buttons:
- SOURCE: Used to change input sources (Bluetooth, USB, AUX, AM, FM, WX). A short press changes the source, a long press powers the unit on/off.
- FAVORITES: Used to save and select favorite presets. Holding this button disconnects from a paired Bluetooth device and re-enters pairing mode.
- MENU: Used to access audio settings (short press) or the main device settings menu (long press).
- SUB/ZONE: Press to change Subwoofer output volume. Hold to change Zone 2 output volume.
- VOLUME KNOB: Used to change volume or select values within menus. Press to confirm a selection.
- Control Buttons (K, ►II, ►►): Used for playback control, including play/pause, next track/fast forward, previous track/rewind, and manual tuning.
The device will enter Bluetooth pairing mode automatically when no connection is present, displaying "In Pairing Mode". When scanning for devices, the KMC4 appears as "Media Center".
Note: Use short and long presses to operate. Some input sources may not support all functions.
Installation

- A mounting hole cutout template is provided with dimensions of 3 inches (76.2 mm).
- Remove adhesive from the rear gasket and apply it to the back of the KMC4.
- Securely fasten the KMC4 to the mounting surface using the included screws.
- Attach the snap-on trim ring to the front of the KMC4.
Wiring:
The KMC4 features various input and output connections:
- Inputs: AUX input, wired remote input (KRC12, sold separately), USB input (for playback and charging), and radio antenna input.
- Outputs: Front RCA out (gray), Rear RCA out (green), Sub RCA out (red), and Zone 2 RCA out (purple).
- Power: Connect to a +12V switched power source via a fuse (15A ATM). Also requires a ground connection.

- Remote Turn-On Output: For activating external amplifiers.
Important: Remember to cap unused wires and avoid electrical shorts.
Operation
Playback and Source Selection
Use the SOURCE button to cycle through available input sources: Bluetooth, USB, AUX, AM, FM, and WX. The SUB/ZONE button controls subwoofer volume (press) or Zone 2 volume (hold).
Bluetooth Pairing
The KMC4 automatically enters Bluetooth pairing mode when no connection exists. To manually disconnect and re-enter pairing mode, hold the FAVORITES button. When scanning from your audio device, the KMC4 will appear as "Media Center".
Setting Presets
To set favorite stations for AM, FM, and WX, select the station, press FAVORITES, choose a favorite number (1-10), and hold the VOLUME KNOB for 2 seconds.
USB Usage
The USB input is active when a USB device is connected. KICKER recommends SANDISK drives for optimal performance. Drives must be formatted in FAT32. USB hubs are not compatible. High-bit rate files may cause errors.
Device Settings
Access device settings by holding the MENU button. Available settings include:
- LOUD: Enables or disables a low-frequency boost.
- AREA: Selects between North America or Europe for radio tuning.
- BEEP: Controls audible feedback for button presses.
- Zone 2: Toggles Zone 2 volume control on/off.

Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the SOURCE/POWER button is pressed and the unit is on. Check the +12V power wire, ground wire, and fuse for proper connection.
- No or Low Output: Check the balance control, speaker output connections, and volume of the audio source. Power cycle the KMC4.
- Reduced Volume: If reversing a speaker connection (positive to negative) improves volume, the speaker was out of phase.
- Buttons/Device Unresponsive: Perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the PLAY/PAUSE button for ten seconds.
- Radio Stations Not Received: Verify the audio source volume, ensure the antenna is properly connected, and check that the AREA setting in the menu is correct for your region.
