Connecting Your Audio Sources
Connect any 4 sources' digital audio outputs to the 1177A coaxial (RCA) or optical (TosLink™) inputs. The 1177A features an "autoselect" function that identifies the source transmitting a digital audio signal. To optimize this feature, connect your sources according to your preferred priority for automatic switching.
Many source components may transmit a signal even when not actively playing. If a source, such as a satellite tuner, is continuously active, it should be assigned a lower priority. For the autoselect feature to function as desired, connect the source you wish to have the lowest priority to position #4, and the source with the highest priority to position #1.
Connecting the Output and Power
Connect the 1177A's output (either coaxial or optical) to your digital receiver. Apply AC power to the 1177A and all connected components. Test the system by turning on one source at a time to verify the automatic switching behavior.
For users who prefer to keep all components powered on, the manual select button on the 1177A allows for direct switching between sources.
LED Indicator Interpretation
The LEDs on the 1177A indicate the status as follows:
- Green = Signal present
- Red = Selected
- Flash = Selected, No signal
Connection Diagram Description
The Model 1177A unit serves as a central hub for digital audio sources. It has four input ports, labeled 1 through 4, designed to accept digital audio outputs from various components via coaxial or optical cables.
- Input Port 4: Connects to the digital audio output of the Satellite Tuner (designated as Source #4).
- Input Port 3: Connects to the digital audio output of the Cable Set Top Box (designated as Source #3).
- Input Port 2: Connects to the digital audio output of the CD Player (designated as Source #2).
- Input Port 1: Connects to the digital audio output of the DVD Player (designated as Source #1).
The Model 1177A's digital audio output (coaxial or optical) is then connected to the digital audio input of a Digital Receiver/Amplifier. The system requires AC power to operate.
