Grounding Instructions: This product must be grounded. If it malfunctions, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electric shock. The product is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate, properly installed, and grounded outlet according to local codes. [Warning] Improper connection of the grounding conductor can result in electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure. Do not modify the plug; have a proper outlet installed if needed. The grounding plug is for a nominal 120-volt circuit. A temporary adapter may be used if a grounded outlet is unavailable, but a proper grounded outlet should be installed by a qualified electrician. The adapter's grounding tab must be connected to a permanent ground, such as a properly grounded outlet box cover, secured by a metal screw.
Getting Started
1. Plug it in: Connect the power cord to a grounded 120-volt power source.
2. Child safety lock: Ensure the child safety lock is set to the 'Unlock' position. Setting it to 'Lock' prevents the power switch from being turned on. Keep it locked when unattended to prevent children from using the chair.
3. Power on: Turn the master power switch, located on the left-hand side of the chair, to the 'ON' position.
4. Get comfortable: While seated, adjust the backrest by pulling the backrest handle up. Lean backward or forward to find a comfortable position and release the handle.
Using your Human Touch massage chair is easy! Plug it in, power it on, and use the backrest handle to adjust the angle for maximum comfort.
Take Control
The self-retracting controller stores conveniently in the armrest dock.
Power Button: Illuminates to indicate the master power switch is on.
Stop Button: Stops the massage and parks the massage rollers at the top of the backrest.
Zone/Position Buttons: Use these buttons to target the massage to a specific area of your back. You can press these buttons before or after selecting a massage technique. The 'Zone' function targets a six-inch area.
Massage Programs: These programs massage a specified area for 15 minutes using various techniques. Corresponding LED lights on the remote indicate the active mode:
- Full Back Refresh: Massages your entire back.
- Neck/Shoulder Relief: Massages your upper back.
- Lower Back Release: Massages your lower back.
Massage Techniques
Choose a massage technique to suit your mood. Your Human Touch massage chair offers customizable massage options:
- Percussion: Alternates rapid-tapping strokes along the spine to stimulate spinal muscles and joint areas, emulating sports medicine percussive therapy for deep muscle relief. Benefits include relieving tension and soreness by lifting and stretching muscles, improving circulation, and delivering vital nutrients to the spinal area.
- Compression: Applies pressure to spinal muscles and joint areas with alternating strokes and a gentle rocking motion, emulating techniques used in sports medicine and chiropractic therapy. Benefits include warming and loosening muscles, preparing the back for deeper massage, relieving muscle tension, improving circulation, and relaxing the back.
- Kneading: Kneads your back in a small, circular motion on both sides of the spine simultaneously. Benefits include flexing spinal joints, relieving pressure on the spinal column, and invigorating the entire back area.
- Rolling: Gently rolls up and down your back near the spine. Benefits include stretching muscles, improving circulation, and helping bring vital nutrients to the spinal area.
You can combine techniques or select an auto-massage program for a fully customized experience.
Customize Massage Intensity
The massage-softening pad softens the massage intensity. For a stronger massage, remove the pad.
- Flip the head pillow over the headrest to the back of the chair.
- Open the horizontal zipper on the front of the backrest.
- Insert or remove the massage-softening pad as desired.
- Close the zipper.
- Flip the head pillow back to the front of the chair.
Replacement massage-softening pads are available from Human Touch for an additional charge.
Your chair may have zippers secured with a plastic security tie. Cut the tie carefully with nail clippers or a similar instrument, avoiding damage to the upholstery.
Care and Maintenance
To keep your product working and looking its best, follow these care guidelines:
Cleaning:
- Always unplug the chair before cleaning.
- Do not use benzene, thinner, or other solvents.
- Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner.
- Wipe dirty surfaces with a damp cloth, then a dry cloth.
- Common upholstery cleaners can be used for tough stains.
- Use a dry cloth only for the remote control and around the power switch.
Fabric Care:
Dust or vacuum frequently with a soft brush attachment. Suede™ products can be brushed with a suede brush. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth as needed. For tough stains on non-leather products, use a mild detergent mixed with water. For leather products, use a leather furniture cleaning solution occasionally.
[Warning] Test any cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure colorfastness.
Maintenance and Repair:
- The product's mechanisms are designed to be maintenance-free. No periodic lubrication or servicing is required.
- Servicing should only be performed by an authorized service center.
Storage:
- For long periods of non-use, cover the chair, coil the power cord, and store in a dust- and moisture-free environment.
- Do not store near heat or open flame. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which may cause fading or damage.
Miscellaneous:
- Do not insert foreign objects between massage nodes or unit housing.
- Take care not to overload the unit.
