For a better experience, you can also learn how to use the engraving machine by:

Firmware Upgrade

Download the latest firmware from https://www.creality.com/pages/download-cr-laser-falcon-laser-engraver. Save the ".bin" file in the root directory of the TF card and delete other files. Insert the TF card into the machine when powered off. The machine will update automatically when powered on. A buzzer will sound during the update process. The sound will stop upon completion. Do not power off during the update.

Safety Precautions

The laser engraving machine uses a high-density laser beam to irradiate the material, causing high surface temperatures that can gasify the material without combustion. However, most materials are combustible and can ignite, leading to open flames that may damage the machine and its surroundings.

Please follow these operating principles:

  1. Do not place the product near flammable or explosive items, volatile solvents, or heat sources. Store it in a well-ventilated, cool, and dust-free environment.
  2. Use only the provided power cord.
  3. Regularly clean the machine and laser module with a dry cloth when the power is off.
  4. Operate the laser in an environment temperature of 0℃-35℃. Avoid humid environments and thunderstorms.
  5. If the product is not used for an extended period, switch it off and unplug the power cord.
  6. Do not touch electronic areas with hands or tools when the machine is connected to power.
  7. Do not touch moving mechanical parts or the laser module while the machine is running.
  8. Before engraving, place a flat object that cannot be penetrated by the laser (e.g., aluminum alloy or stainless steel plate) on the workbench, and then place the material to be processed.
  9. Wear goggles to prevent vision damage from the laser spot during operation.
  10. Operate the machine in a well-ventilated area, as laser engraving may produce smoke or odor.
  11. Children under 10 years old should not use the product without adult supervision to prevent personal injury.
  12. Keep fire extinguishers ready and regularly checked. Never leave the machine unattended while it is running.
  13. Users must comply with the laws and regulations of the country and region where the equipment is used, adhere to professional ethics, pay attention to safety obligations, and strictly prohibit the use of products or equipment for any illegal purposes. Creality is not responsible for any legal liability of violators.

Equipment Introduction

The CR-Laser Falcon features a robust frame with X and Y-axis assemblies, a laser module (available in 5W or 10W), a control box, and a TF card slot for offline operation. It includes power and Type-C interfaces.

Components:

Assembly Directions

  1. Assemble the left Y-axis assembly: Pass the left Y-axis assembly through the X-axis assembly and attach the belt as shown in the figure.
  2. Assemble the right Y-axis assembly: Similar to the left side. Insert two T-shaped nuts into the left and right Y-axis assemblies.
  3. Assemble front and rear X-axis profiles: Use eight M5*20 screws to secure them. Ensure the assembly is parallel to the rear X-axis profile.
  4. Assemble tripods and control box: Use eight M5*20 screws. Push the X-axis assembly to the end and ensure it is parallel to the rear X-axis profile. Tighten the belt and secure it with a hexagon screw. Be careful not to overtighten to prevent belt perforation.
  5. Install 5W laser module: Mount it onto the fixing plate. Ensure the fixed focus bar contacts the material surface vertically. Lock it with two hand screws and turn the fixed focus bar clockwise until it is attracted by the magnet. Plug in the laser module cord.
  6. Install 10W laser module: Place the multi-level fixed focus bar between the laser module and the material. Align the bottom of the laser module's protective cover with the surface of the material as indicated. Lock it with two hand screws. For example, engrave or cut 2mm basswood. For better engraving, elevate the laser module away from the workbench while ensuring correct focal length. The laser module must be installed and removed only when the power is off.

Software Installation and Usage Guide

The machine supports real-time working via Type-C with LightBurn or LaserGRBL, and offline working using files generated by LightBurn.

Start Engraving

Before engraving, focus the machine correctly and wipe the laser module's protective lens with a dustless cloth and alcohol for optimal results. The filter cotton in the 5W laser module and the protective cover for the 10W laser module can be removed for cleaning.

Offline Working:

  1. Generate an engraving file (.gcode/.gc/.g/.nc/.ngc) using LightBurn. Save it to the root directory of the TF card. Insert the TF card into the machine before powering on. Connect the machine to power using the supplied adapter and cord. Turn on the red power switch on the control box.
  2. When powered on, the machine emits three beeps, initializes, and enters standby mode with a breathing indicator light.
  3. Press the microswitch to enter preview mode. The laser head emits a weak light and moves around the edges of the material. The indicator light remains on. Adjust the material position.
  4. Press the microswitch again to enter engraving mode. The laser head emits strong light, and engraving begins. The indicator light remains on.
  5. Pause engraving: Press the microswitch or click "Pause" in the software. The indicator light will breathe. Press the microswitch again to resume.
  6. Cancel engraving: Press and hold the microswitch for 3 seconds (or click "Cancel" in the software). The machine will beep once, reset, and beep twice upon completion. It will then enter standby mode with a breathing indicator light.
  7. After engraving, the machine beeps three times, resets, and beeps twice, entering standby mode with a breathing indicator light.

Real-time Working:

For Type-C real-time working, refer to the tutorial on the TF card. During online working, do not insert the TF card and do not press the microswitch on the control box.

Indicator Status

Exception Handling

If the machine tips over or moves suddenly during operation, it will turn off the laser, stop the motor, flash the indicator light, and emit an alarm. To resolve this, return the machine to its original position, clear the abnormality, and press the microswitch on the control box to continue previewing or engraving (this function is only available during offline working).

Offline Working Flowchart

The flowchart outlines the steps for offline operation: Start -> Place protective plate and material -> Adjust focal length -> Save engraving file to TF card -> Insert TF card -> Power on -> Machine resets -> Wait for initialization -> Enter preview mode -> Press microswitch to start engraving -> (Check microswitch press) -> Continue engraving / Pause engraving / Stop engraving -> End.

Real-time Working Flowchart

The flowchart outlines the steps for real-time operation: Start -> Place protective plate and material -> Adjust focal length -> Use Type-C cable to connect computer and machine -> Power on -> Select the corresponding file on the computer to control the machine -> Import picture -> Set parameters -> Frame preview -> Start engraving -> End.
