Firmware Upgrade

Download the latest firmware from https://www.creality.com/pages/download-cr-laser-falcon-laser-engraver. Back up and delete the files in the TF card, and save the firmware file (e.g., .bin) to the root directory of the TF card.

Motherboard Firmware

When the machine is powered off, insert the TF card into the card slot. The machine will automatically update the firmware when powered on. The buzzer will beep continuously during the update process. The update is complete when the beeping stops. Do not power off the machine during the update.

Laser Module Firmware

When the machine is powered off, insert the TF card into a card reader, then use the USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect to the Type-C port on the top of the laser module. The machine will automatically update the firmware when powered on. During the update process, the indicator light on the laser module will show a scrolling orange marquee effect. The update is complete when the marquee effect stops. Do not power off the machine during the update.

Safety Instructions

When a laser engraver engraves or cuts materials, it uses a high-density laser beam to heat the surface, causing materials to vaporize without burning. However, most materials are inherently flammable and can be ignited, potentially damaging the machine and its surroundings.

Operating Principles:

  1. Do not place the product near flammable or explosive materials, volatile solvents, or heat sources. Place the product in a ventilated, cool, and dust-free environment.
  2. Use only the provided power cord. Do not substitute it with other power cords during installation.
  3. Periodically clean the machine body and laser module with an anti-static brush and a dry cloth while the machine is powered off.
  4. Connect the silicone tube on the laser module, regardless of whether air assist is used. Failure to do so may lead to lens contamination.
  5. The operating temperature range for the laser module is 5°C–35°C. Avoid using the product in humid environments or during thunderstorms.
  6. If the product is not used for an extended period, turn it off and disconnect the power cord.
  7. When the product is connected to the power supply, do not touch electronic areas with your hands or other tools. It is forbidden to plug and unplug the laser module cable while the machine is powered on.
  8. While the product is running, do not touch any moving parts or the laser module.
  9. Place a flat object that the laser cannot penetrate (e.g., aluminum alloy or stainless steel plate) beneath the material being processed.
  10. Wear goggles during laser engraving and cutting to avoid vision damage from direct exposure to the laser spot.
  11. Laser engraving and cutting may produce smoke or odor. It is recommended to operate in a well-ventilated environment.
  12. Children under 10 years of age are strictly prohibited from using this product without adult supervision to prevent injury.
  13. Keep fire extinguishers readily available and ensure they are regularly maintained and inspected.
  14. Do not leave the machine unattended while it is operating.
  15. Users must comply with the laws and regulations of the country and region where the equipment is located, practice professional ethics, and adhere to safety obligations. Using our products or equipment for any illegal purposes is strictly forbidden. Creality is not responsible for any legal liabilities arising from violations.

Product Overview

The Creality Falcon2 laser engraver is composed of the following parts:

Parts List

The package includes the following components:

Assembly Directions

1. Install four raiser stands (including pads): There are 3 positions for installation at each of the four corners of the machine, to suit different workbench sizes. Ensure symmetry when installing the stands.

Note: The other four raiser stands (without pads) can be used to raise the machine. You can stack them if necessary.

2. Connect the machine with the air pump:

3. Install the laser module: Install it onto the bracket and lock it with the thumb screw on the right.

4. Connect the laser module with the adapter board: Fix the laser module cable and the silicone tube using the cable management clips.

5. Organize the laser module cable and silicone tube with the cable straps.

Preparation

Before starting work, complete the following preparations:

  1. Carefully re-read the security statement.
  2. Stack the protective metal plate, honeycomb worktable (optional), and processing materials in sequence.
  3. Adjust the focal length of the laser module using the multi-level fixed-focus block. Place the block between the module and the material. Lower the laser module until the bottom of the laser module cover touches the corresponding mark on the block, then secure it with the thumb screw on the right. For example, when engraving or cutting 2mm thick basswood boards or other materials.

Software Installation & Use

The machine can be controlled via a USB-C cable connection to a PC using LaserGRBL or LightBurn software. It can also work offline by reading gcode files from a TF card (exported from LightBurn). For software tutorials, refer to the information provided on the TF card.

Control from PC

Connect the machine to a PC via a USB-C cable. If your computer lacks a USB-A port, use the included adapter. While controlling from a PC, you can also use the Start/Pause button on the machine's control panel.

Work with TF Card

  1. Generate the engraving or cutting file (gcode) using LightBurn software. Save the file to the root directory of the TF card. The machine defaults to reading the file with the latest modification date in the root directory. It is advised to delete other irrelevant files in the first directory. Insert the TF card into the machine before powering it on. Connect the power adapter and power cord, then turn on the power button.
  2. After power-on, the machine will emit two beeps and enter standby mode, indicated by a slowly pulsing green light.
  3. Press the 'Frame' button to exit standby mode and enter preview mode. The laser module will emit a weak beam and move along the X/Y axis to outline the working area. The indicator light will be solid blue. Adjust the material to the correct position or make fine adjustments using the arrow buttons on the control panel.
  4. In preview mode, press the Start/Pause button to enter engraving mode. The laser module will emit a strong beam, and the machine will begin engraving. The indicator light will be solid blue. To pause engraving, press the Start/Pause button; the indicator light will pulse green slowly. Press Start/Pause again to resume.
  5. To cancel engraving, press and hold the Start/Pause button for 3 seconds. The machine will sound a beep, reset, and then emit two beeps before entering standby mode with a pulsing green indicator light.
  6. After engraving is complete, the machine will sound three beeps, then reset. After resetting, it will emit one beep and enter standby mode with a pulsing green indicator light.

Indicator Status Explanation

Control Panel Indicators:

  1. Indicator Off: Machine is powered off or experiencing an abnormal power-on state.
  2. Solid White: Machine is initializing. It will automatically enter standby mode after initialization.
  3. Flashing Purple: Firmware upgrade mode. The buzzer sounds rapidly. The machine will enter standby mode after the upgrade is complete.
  4. Flashing Red: Abnormal mode. The buzzer sounds rapidly. The machine will enter standby mode after the abnormality is resolved.
  5. Pulsing Green (slowly): Standby mode. Press the 'Frame' button to enter preview mode.
  6. Solid Blue: Preview or engraving mode. The laser module is emitting a beam. Exercise caution and prioritize safety.
  7. Flashing Yellow: No gcode file found in the TF card's root directory. The buzzer will sound two beeps.

Laser Module Indicators:

Notes:

  1. The FIRE and LENS alarm functions are enabled by default. The AIR alarm is disabled by default but its indicator will show the status. Refer to the “Laser Module Alarm Function.pdf” in the included documents to enable the AIR alarm.
  2. During an alarm, press the Reset button on the laser module to stop the alarm. Pay attention to the current status of the laser module.
  3. The Type-C port on the laser module is primarily for upgrading the laser module firmware or exporting work logs. Use the dust-proof plug when the port is not in use.
