Overview

The patent-pending Rain Bird® Pressure Regulating Filter (PR Filter) is a compact unit that combines effective pressure control and high-quality filtration. When paired with a valve, it forms control zone kits that are approximately 24% shorter, allowing for more efficient installation in standard valve boxes or smaller round valve boxes.

Key benefits include simplified installation due to the all-in-one, two-piece assembled design, increased reliability with fewer parts and connections, and reduced labor and material costs due to the compact size and smaller valve box requirements.

Specifications

Pressure Regulating Filter Control Zone Kits (XCZ-075-PRF, XCZ-100-PRF):

• Each kit contains two pre-assembled components: an integrated Pressure-Regulating Filter (PR Filter) and a valve.
• PR Filter: Contains a 200 mesh filter and a pressure regulator. Constructed of heavy-duty, glass-filled, UV-resistant plastic with a pressure rating of not less than 150 psi. Filter element is durable polyester fabric on a propylene frame. Standard 200-mesh (75 micron) screen is serviceable by unscrewing the cap. Color-coded replaceable filter elements (blue 150-mesh/100 micron, white 200-mesh/75 micron) are available. The 3/4" PR Filter has 3/4" male threaded inlet/outlet; the 1" PR Filter has 1" male threaded inlet/outlet. Compact "Y" body and cap configuration. Dimensions: Height: 4.5" (11.4 cm), Length: 5.5" (14 cm), Width: 2" (5.1 cm).
• Pressure Regulator: Normally open device. Reduces pressure when inlet pressure exceeds a preset level by compressing a spring. The 3/4" regulator has a preset outlet pressure of approximately 30 psi (2.0 bars). The 1" regulator has a preset outlet pressure of approximately 40 psi (2.8 bars). Accommodates inlet pressure up to 120 psi (8.3 bars). Kits can be installed above or below ground.
• Automatic Irrigation Control Valve: Normally closed, 24 VAC, 50/60 cycle, solenoid actuated, balance pressure type. Capable of a specified flow rate with minimal pressure loss. Pressure rating not less than 120 psi. Valve body and bonnet constructed of high-impact, weather-resistant plastic, stainless steel, and chemical/UV resistant materials. Diaphragm constructed of durable Buna-N rubber with a clog-resistant metering orifice. Includes a 90-mesh (200 micron) filter attached to the solenoid base.
• Valve Connections: 3/4" valve kits have a 3/4" NPT inlet and outlet with a diaphragm featuring a double-knife seal and a 1/2" diameter seat. 1" valve kits have a 1" FNPT inlet and outlet.
• Valve Actuation: Low power solenoid: 0.30 amp (7.2VA) inrush, 0.19 amp (4.56VA) holding current. Capable of on/off control by turning the solenoid 1/4 turn.
