Product Overview
This document provides composite outline and mounting dimensions for ASCO Series 300 Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) rated for 600 through 800 Amperes. It covers both 2 and 3-pole configurations, with or without a neutral pole.

Mounting Hole Details:
- HOLE B-: Diameter 7.50 inches. Suggested mounting: 0.250-20 x 1.50 inch long Penn captive stud (e.g., FH-0420-24-ZI).
- HOLE C-: Diameter 1.25 inches. Suggested mounting: 0.163-0.166 diameter for 0.164-32 x 0.313 inch long Penn captive stud (e.g., FH-832-5-ZI).
Terminal Specifications:
- UL listed solderless screw type terminals for external power connections.
- Wire size range: #2 AWG to 600 MCM (Aluminum/Copper).
Mounting Bolt Suggestion: 3/8-16 x 1 1/2 inch length minimum, quantity 8.

- 2 Poles: 135 lbs (62 kg)
- 3 Poles: 145 lbs (66 kg)

General Notes
- For two-pole switches, omit the center pole (F-1).
- When installing, connect Normal, Emergency, and Load conductors to similarly marked terminals.
- All internal connections are made at the factory.
- Maintain a minimum electrical clearance of 1.00 inch (25.4 mm) between live metal parts and grounded metal.
- Mount the transfer switch unit on the inside back surface and the control panel(s) on the inside door surface.
- The control panel connects to the transfer switch panel via a wire harness with two (2) quick disconnect plugs. The standard harness length is 50.00 inches (1270.0 mm). An extension harness (ACC. 37B) is available, adding 72 inches (1828 mm). Note: ACC. 37B must be specified at the time of order.
- For Type 1 enclosures, use the four (4) clearance corner holes or studs as required, per Detail "A"-1. For Type 3R, 4, & 12 enclosures, use all studs or holes, per Detail "A"-2. A gasket is provided for Type 3R, 4, & 12 enclosures.
- An Operator's Manual is furnished with each Automatic Transfer Switch. Refer to this publication prior to installation and operation of the switch.
Control Panel Mounting and Cutout Details
Control Panel Mounting Data:
Diagram shows a control panel with suggested mounting hole locations and dimensions for the control panel itself. Key dimensions include a width of 9.5 inches (241.3mm) and height of 7.6 inches (193.7mm) for the panel, with specific mounting hole placements.
Suggested Mounting:
- Hole B: Diameter for 0.250-20 x 1.50 long Penn captive stud (e.g., FH-0420-24-ZI).
- Hole C: Diameter for 0.163-0.166 for 0.164-32 x 0.313 long Penn captive stud (e.g., FH-832-5-ZI).
Mounting Instruction: Capture the grounding strap at the lower left corner of the control panel with mounting hardware on the mounting stud.
Controls (Cutout) Detail "A":
This section provides detailed cutout dimensions for control panels based on enclosure type. Specific dimensions are provided for hole placement and overall cutout size.
- Note 1: Cutout Detail "A"-1 is for Type 1 enclosures.
- Note 2: Cutout Detail "A"-2 is for Type 3R, Type 12, and Type 4 enclosures.
Suggested Mounting for Detail "A":
- Hole 'A': Diameter for 0.137-0.140, 0.138-32 x 0.625 long Penn Engineering & Mfg. Co. self-clinching captive stud (Part No. FH-632-8-ZI).
