Safety Precautions

IDEC enabling switches are designed for industrial purposes. Use in residential or commercial settings may cause electromagnetic disturbances. Always ensure power is off before installation, removal, or maintenance. Do not modify or disable the enabling function, as this can lead to accidents. Proper risk assessment is required for safety-related applications. Avoid disabling the safety function with tapes or bands. Strong forces may be applied to the switch when pressed to position 3, requiring adequate structural support. Use appropriate wire sizes and ensure correct soldering to prevent fire hazards. Do not apply excessive force to the switch. Using switches without rubber boots in dusty environments may cause malfunction. Rubber boots may deteriorate over time and should be replaced if deformed or cracked.

Operating Instructions

  1. The enabling switch permits machine operation only while manually operated for robot teaching or other purposes in hazardous areas. Ensure the control system activates the machine only when the switch is at position 2 (3mm operating travel).
  2. For high safety levels, connect the two contacts of the 3-position switch to a disparity detection circuit (e.g., safety relay module) (ISO 13849-1).
  3. Press the center of the button to avoid delays caused by independent contact operation.
  4. Ensure the rubber boot ridge is tightly pressed to the mounting panel for waterproof characteristics. Reinforcing ribs may be needed if the panel is bent.
  5. Embed the rubber boot in the mounting panel if excessive force may cause it to stick out.
  6. Use optional rubber boots or add extra protection in environments with foreign particles or dust.

Installation Instructions

  1. Provide sufficient strength to the mounting panel to prevent damage to the switch from excessive operating force.
  2. If using a rubber boot, ensure the mounting panel is not deformed to maintain waterproof characteristics.
  3. Do not drill through the anti-rotation hole in the mounting panel; remove the anti-rotation projection from the rubber boot if not providing the hole.
  4. Secure the flange part when tightening the locking ring to prevent rotation. Embedding the switch in the panel is recommended if rotation is possible.

Wiring Instructions

  1. Use applicable wire size: 0.5 mm² maximum per wire.
  2. Solder terminals at 310-350°C for a maximum of 3 seconds using lead-free solder (Sn-Ag-Cu type recommended). Avoid flow or dip soldering.
  3. Take care not to touch the switch with the soldering iron, and do not apply tensile force or bend terminals.
  4. Use non-corrosive liquid rosin as soldering flux.
