Installation Instructions
- Remove rear bumper. Two fixings on lower edge, three fixings in wheel arch, two fixings on top edge. Pull bumper tips out from body clips.
- Remove bumper beam. (This is not refitted with the towbar).
- Lower rearmost exhaust box.
- Remove heat shield.
- Locate Item B into each chassis and using Item H with Item L loosely bolt into place. Locate Item D into each chassis and loosely bolt through remaining mounting point using Item H with Item L. Note: Mounting point holes for Hatch and Saloon are not the same (see sketch).
- Using Item G bolt Item A to Item B.
- Using Item F with Item K and Item E with Item K bolt Item C with Item M to Item A.
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the towbar is rigid and secure.
- Refit heat shield, exhaust and bumper.
NOTE: TITANIUM X (Silver Lower Edge): Bumper cut 87mm WIDE x 97mm DEEP for Towbar central + 170 WIDE x 97 DEEP for socket plate to be cut on the near side of central cut.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the Tow-Trust TF178VK towbar assembly for the Ford Mondeo. It depicts the main structural components: a central crossmember (A) and two side arms (B) designed to attach to the vehicle's chassis. A detachable housing (C) is shown mounted to the crossmember, which accommodates the removable towball mechanism. Notes
- Recommended Torque Setting for M10 Grade 10.9: 78 Nm. Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9: 139 Nm.
- Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers' trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
