Connection Steps
Step One: Connect your Cameras
Connect the supplied Ethernet cable from the camera's Ethernet connection point to one of the NVR's camera input ports (labeled CAM1 through CAM8 on an 8-channel model). The NVR will supply power to the cameras over the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for separate camera power adapters.
For bullet cameras: To adjust the camera angle, loosen the mounting screws using an Allen key. This allows for rotation left or right (1), positioning up or down (2), and rotating the camera stand left or right (3). The camera can be mounted onto a flat surface using the provided screws and wall plugs, ensuring the surface can support the camera's weight.
Step Two: Connect to your Home Network
Connect the supplied Ethernet cable from the NVR's Ethernet (WAN) port to a spare port on your router. It is important to complete this step before proceeding, as it enables features like email alerts, automatic clock synchronization, and remote viewing via the HomeSafe View app.
Step Three: Connect your Mouse
Connect the supplied mouse to one of the rear USB ports on the NVR. For copying recorded events or performing firmware upgrades, connect a USB flash drive (not included) to one of the front USB ports.
Note: Bluetooth and wireless mice, as well as trackpad devices, are not supported. Compatibility may vary for different USB storage devices.
Step Four: Connect to your TV
Connect the supplied HDMI cable from the NVR's HDMI port to a spare HDMI input on your TV. When the NVR is powered on, use your TV's remote control and press the A/V button to select the correct HDMI input source.
Step Five: Connect to your Monitor (Optional)
If you are using a monitor that has a VGA connection, connect a VGA cable (not supplied) from the NVR's VGA port to the monitor's VGA input. A VGA cable and monitor are not required if you are using the HDMI connection.
Step Six: Connect your Power Adapter
Connect the supplied 48V power adapter to the NVR's Power Input port. Then, connect the power cable to the other end of the power adapter and plug it into a wall power outlet. Finally, press the Power Switch on the NVR to the 'on' position.
All necessary connections have now been completed. Your NVR should appear on the TV screen, displaying the Startup Wizard. Please refer to the separate "Startup Wizard Quick Start Guide" (identified by its red color) for detailed configuration instructions.
