WARNING

Please install the antenna (connect to location "B" on the back panel) and set the SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) before transmitting. Failure to do so may result in destruction of the power amplifier, which is not covered by the guarantee.

Welcome to Use

The 310M is a Multi-norms and multi-function CB radio offering top performance. Utilizing SMT technology for stability, reliability, and quality, it represents a new step in personal communication and is ideal for professional CB radio users. It features a flash CPU for future upgrades and expanded functions. Read this manual carefully before installation to ensure full utilization of the radio.

Reset Function

To reset the radio to factory default settings, hold the key (7) [Channel 9/19] while powering on. All channel data will be restored.

Installation

1. Where and How to Mount Your Mobile CB Radio

Choose a practical and accessible mounting location that does not interfere with the driver or passengers. Ensure wiring (power, antenna, accessory) is routed safely to avoid interfering with vehicle controls. Use the provided cradle (H) and self-tapping screws [E] (4 mm drill diameter) for mounting. Be cautious not to damage the vehicle's electrical system. Insert rubber joints [G] between the CB and its support for shock absorption. Position the microphone support so the cord does not interfere with controls. The transceiver has a front microphone socket, allowing dashboard installation. An external loudspeaker (connector ext. SP on the back panel: D) may be needed to improve sound quality. Consult your dealer for mounting advice.

Diagram Description: Diagram shows front panel components and mounting hardware (screws, rubber joints).

2. Antenna Installation

a) Choosing an Antenna

For CB radios, longer antennas generally yield better results. Consult your dealer for assistance.

b) Mobile Antenna

Mount the antenna on a maximum metallic surface (ground plane) away from the windscreen. If a radio-telephone antenna is already installed, the CB antenna should be higher. Types include pre-regulated antennas (best on good ground planes like car roofs) and adjustable antennas (offering a larger frequency range). For drilled installations, ensure good contact between the antenna and the ground plane by lightly scratching the surface. Avoid pinching or flattening the coaxial cable. Connect the antenna to location (B).

c) Fixed Antenna

Install fixed antennas in spacious areas. If mounting on a mast, adhere to relevant laws and seek professional advice.

Diagram Description: The diagram shows various mounting points and components labeled E, H, F, G, D, B, C. It also shows output radius patterns for antennas.

Power Connection

The unit is protected against polarity inversion, but connections should be checked before power-on. The equipment requires a 12-volt DC continuous current. Most vehicles are negative earth; verify by checking the negative terminal connection to the chassis or engine block. If not, consult your dealer. For 24-volt systems (common in lorries), a 24/12 volt converter is required. Perform connections with the power cable disconnected.

  • Check battery voltage (should be 12V).
  • Identify positive (+) (red) and negative (-) (black) battery terminals. Use equivalent or superior cable if lengthening is needed.
  • Connect to a permanent (+) and (-) source. Direct battery connection is advised to minimize interference from car-radio wiring.
  • Connect the red wire (+) to the positive terminal and the black wire (-) to the negative terminal.
  • Connect the power cable to the CB radio.

WARNING: Never replace the original 5A fuse with one of a different value.

Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates correct battery connection for 12V systems, showing positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.

Basic Operations

  1. Connect the microphone.
  2. Check antenna connections.
  3. Turn the set on by turning the volume knob (1) clockwise.
  4. Turn the squelch knob (2) to minimum (fully counter-clockwise).
  5. Adjust volume to a comfortable level.
  6. Go to channel 20 E using the [▲ Channel Up] or [▼ Channel Down] key.

Adjustment of SWR (Standing Wave Ratio)

WARNING: This adjustment is crucial for first-time use and after repositioning the antenna. Perform in an obstacle-free area using an external SWR meter.

a) Connect the SWR Meter

Connect the SWR meter between the CB radio and the antenna, using a maximum of 40cm of cable.

b) Adjust the SWR Meter

  • Set the CB to channel 20, E band, in FM.
  • Set the SWR meter switch to [Calibrate] or [Forward].
  • Press the <<Push-To-Talk>> switch on the microphone to transmit.
  • Adjust the calibration key until the index needle points to [▼].
  • Change the SWR meter switch to [SWR] position to read the SWR level.

The reading should be as close to 1 as possible. An SWR reading between 1 and 1.8 is acceptable. If not, readjust the antenna. Re-calibrate the SWR meter after each antenna adjustment. Your CB is now ready for use.
