DIGI TM-B3SENSOR Smart Sense B3 Sensor
Use these instructions to add a SmartSense B3 Sensor to an existing SmartSense environment.
Installing the B3 Sensor
Your SmartSense B3 Sensor arrives powered off.
- Hold the power button for 2-5 seconds, then release to turn on the B3 Sensor.
- Both the green and red LEDs will simultaneously blink twice to indicate the sensor is on and will report at a scheduled interval (under normal operation, these are the only times the LEDs will illuminate).
- To check the status of a B3 Sensor, press the power button once. A green LED indicates the sensor is on, while a red LED indicates that the sensor is in Hibernation Mode (not collecting or sending data).**
- SmartSense recommends installing the sensor according to the FDA Food Code, placing it “in a location that is representative of the actual storage temperature of the unit,” away from any compressors or fans.
- Use the included zip tie to mount the B3 Sensor. The zip tie should be threaded through the mounting loop at the top of the sensor and attached securely to a mounting point so that the sensor is hanging vertically and facing toward the door of your case.
- If a suitable mounting point does not exist, contact SmartSense Support for additional mounting options.
Once turned on, the B3 Sensor may be placed back into Hibernation Mode if not in use. To place the sensor into Hibernation Mode, hold the power button down for about 5 seconds (until the green and red LEDs simultaneously blink 3 times), release the button, and hold the button again for 2-5 seconds within 20 seconds to confirm Hibernation Mode is activated (a single red LED flash will confirm the device is back in Hibernation Mode). You can press the power button again to confirm the B3 Sensor is in Hibernation Mode (the red LED will flash once).
Note
When you put the B3 Sensor in Hibernation Mode, the device cannot be re-enabled for one minute to allow for proper shutdown; all stored data will be deleted, and the device will revert to its default configuration.
Caution
Risk of fire and burns. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above (manufacturer’s specified temperature), or incinerate. Keep the battery out of reach of children and in its original package until ready to use. Dispose of used batteries promptly.
Verify the B3 Sensor is Reporting
Confirm that the B3 sensor is communicating with your SmartSense dashboard. If you do not have a login with Super Admin or Admin permissions, ask a colleague to perform this check. You will need to log in to the SmartSense Web App.
- Open a web browser and navigate to app.smartsense.co.
- Enter your credentials (username and password), then select LOG IN.
- At the top of the screen, click ADMI, N, then select SYSTEM MANAGEMENT.
- Click the UNASSIGNED SENSORS tab.
- In the search bar, enter the Device ID on the front of the B3 sensor (Device ID starts with “D6” and the search requires the full sensor ID).
- When the B3 Sensor is communicating successfully, the LAST COMMUNICATION DATE column should display a recent date and time.
- This confirms that the B3 Sensor is communicating as expected.
