Quick Start Guide
Getting Started
This guide provides essential information to get you started with your Elinchrom Transmitter Pro X.
Connection
The transmitter connects to your camera via the hotshoe mount.
- Battery Compartment: Located on the transmitter, typically accessed via a tab.
- Hotshoe: The mounting point that connects to the camera's hotshoe.
- Hotshoe Lock: Secures the transmitter to the camera.
Attaching the Transmitter
- Ensure both the camera and the Elinchrom transmitter are turned off.
- Align the transmitter's hotshoe with the camera's hotshoe mount.
- Slide the transmitter fully onto the camera's hotshoe mount.
- Lock the mounting foot by sliding it from left to right until it clicks into place.
Detaching the Transmitter
- Unlock the transmitter by pressing the lock-release button while sliding it from right to left.
- Slide the Elinchrom transmitter off the camera's hotshoe mount.
Battery Usage
Use only AA Batteries for the transmitter.
Screen Views and Interface
The transmitter features various screen views and an intuitive control panel.
Screen Views
- Double Heads Flash: Allows selection of individual flash heads (e.g., Head A, Head B) or both, by pressing the side button.
- 2 Pages Dashboard: When five or more units are active, they are displayed across multiple pages. Swipe the screen to access additional pages. The touchscreen is automatically activated for this.
- Sub-menu Screen: Swipe left or right to adjust values displayed between on-screen arrows.
Control Panel / Touch Screen Functions
- Unit Selection: Press the side button to select units. A single press selects both heads, a second press selects Head A, and a third selects Head B.
- Test Flash: A short press on the side button triggers a test flash.
- Device Power: A long press on the side button turns the device ON or OFF.
- USB Socket: Used for software updates.
- Group Switching: Switch between different flash groups (1, 2, 3, 4, or All) by pressing the appropriate button.
- Modlamp Control: Turn the Modlamp ON or OFF.
- Menu Access: A short press accesses the setup menu.
- TTL Mode: A long press switches the device to TTL mode.
- Adjustment Wheel:
- On the dashboard: Rotate clockwise (CW) to increase by +0.1 f-stop, or counter-clockwise (CCW) to decrease by -0.1 f-stop.
- In the menu: Use the wheel to scroll through menu items.
Display Panel – Dashboard
The dashboard provides an overview of connected units and settings. Group colors indicate the group number: blue for group 1, yellow for group 2, red for group 3, and green for group 4.
Key dashboard elements include:
- Frequency
- Group (1, 2, 3, 4, or All)
- Bluetooth status (on/off)
- Battery level indicator
- Selected unit
- Flash power setting
- Modlamp status (on/off)
- Units visible within the selected group
- TTL mode status (on/off)
- HSS (High-Speed Sync) status (on/off)
- TTL dashboard view
- Indication of multiple pages for units
Setup Menu
Access the setup menu for various configuration options:
- Frequencies: Swipe to choose the desired frequency.
- TTL: Switch TTL mode on or off.
- ODS: Swipe to select the ODS parameter.
- Bluetooth: Switch Bluetooth on or off.
- SCAN: Scan for new units.
- Refresh: Refresh unit values.
- Second Curtain: Switch Second Curtain Sync on or off.
- Brightness: Swipe to select the screen brightness level.
- Auto Off: Configure auto power-off duration or switch it off. Options: OFF, 15min, 30min, 45min, 60min.
- Auto Stand-by: Configure auto stand-by duration or switch it off. Options: OFF, 15min, 30min, 45min, 60min.
- Scale Flash: Swipe to select the scale flash mode (EL-scale, 1-10, Ws).
- ID: Swipe to select the Skyport ID (Type/Name/ID).
- Sound: Switch audible feedback on or off.
- Info: Access device information, Factory Reset, and How to update instructions.
- Touchscreen: Switch the touchscreen functionality on or off.
- Certifications: Display regulatory certifications.
Menu Specifics
- Firmware Rev.: Displays the current firmware version (e.g., 0.101).
- Skyport ID: Shows the Skyport ID (e.g., 2643).
- Protocol: Indicates the communication protocol (e.g., CAN).
- Factory Reset button: Initiates a reset to factory default settings. Navigate to Menu > Info icon (i) > "Factory Reset" and confirm.
- How to update button: Displays a QR code to scan with a smartphone for firmware updates.
