Depending on your application, fan wires should generally face the engine. Connect the ground wire to a chassis ground and the positive wire to a switched 12V source, ideally using an inline thermostat switch or PWM fan controller for automatic activation. Refer to your specific Derale manual for exact wiring diagrams.
The best mounting location is directly on the inlet of the cooler core. Always tighten the sensor by hand to prevent damage, and use a small amount of liquid thread sealer. Do not use thread sealant tape or dielectric grease, as they can block heat transfer.
If your cooling fan draws over 10 amps, you must use a relay in conjunction with the thermostat switch to safely handle the electrical load and prevent damage to the switch or wiring.
The PWM controller features an override circuit (green wire). When activated via an A/C switch or manual toggle, the fans will immediately ramp up to 60% speed. Fan speed will continue to increase automatically as the engine temperature rises.
