3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present. The package should include:

3.2 Initial Cleaning

Before first use, wash the water tank, portafilter, filter baskets, and milk frothing pitcher with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

3.4 Priming the Machine

4.1 Making Espresso

Follow these steps to brew a perfect shot of espresso:

  3. Fill Portafilter: Place the desired filter basket (1-cup or 2-cup) into the 58mm portafilter. Fill with ground coffee.

  1. Tamp: Use the tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly.
  2. Attach Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist firmly to lock it into place.
  3. Place Cup: Position your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
  4. Brew: Select your desired shot volume or press the brew button to start extraction. The dual display will show extraction pressure and time. The OPV system maintains optimal pressure between 9-12 bar for balanced flavor.

4.2 Frothing Milk

The semi-automatic steam wand allows you to create microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos.

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill the stainless steel milk frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  2. Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve.
  3. Position Wand: Immerse the three-hole nozzle of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  4. Steam Milk: Open the steam valve. You can choose between Mild Mode and Strong Mode for different steam strengths. Angle the pitcher to create a swirling motion.
  5. Monitor Temperature: Continue steaming until the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture (typically 140-150℉ / 60-65℃).

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water.
  • Steam Wand: As mentioned in section 4.2, clean the steam wand immediately after frothing milk.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily. The removable design makes this easy.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
