The First Time Use or A Long Time Not Use The Machine
For a better taste and good for your health, we suggest you to rinse the machine and release the water out.
- Fill water into the water tank NOT exceeding the MAX line. Set up the water tank vertically and align the buckles to the hole on the back of the machine, and press it down to be parallel to the top of the machine. (If you had operated the machine just now, skip this step)
- Plug in the power cord, press power switch to the [Power ON] position, the LED screen displays all icons, which will flash as the appliance starts heating. (If you had operated the machine just now, skip this step)
- Place a cup on the drip tray. Turn the knob to the far side [Function Select].
- Press one of the buttons.
TIPS: There may be noise when pumping water for the first time or after a long time not used; it is normal that the appliance is releasing the air inside. After about 20 seconds, the noise will disappear.
Use Guide 1: Froth Milk Alone
Tips Before Operation
- Make sure to tear off the sealing tape from the bottom of the water tank. (If it has been torn, please skip this step.)
- Before frothing milk, please be sure the knob is on the [Standby] position. As the knob is a functional selection knob, if it is not in the [Standby] position, it means you have selected one of the functions, which could not operate the following steps.
- Make sure the froth nozzle is clean and not blocked.
Start to Operate
- Fill water into the water tank NOT exceeding the MAX line. Set up the water tank vertically and align the buckles to the hole on the back of the machine, and press it down to be parallel to the top of the machine. (If you had operated the machine just now, skip this step.)
NOTE: When the water tank is pulled up, water will flow out from the outlet at the bottom of the water tank, which is a movable part. If you do not wipe the water immediately, it will accumulate and run to the bottom of the machine, leaving the table full of water. - Plug in the power cord, press power switch to the [Power ON] position, make sure the knob is on the [Standby] position. All the blue indicators will flash as the appliance starts heating. (If you had operated the machine just now, skip this step.)
- Please wait until all the blue indicators stop flashing before turning on the steam, otherwise, it comes out with a weak steam. After all the blue indicators stop flashing, it means the heating is finished, and you can continue to operate step 4.
- Prepare a pitcher with about 100ml of milk. Fill the pitcher with milk and insert the frothing nozzle into milk about 1-2cm. Turn the knob to the far side [Function Select]; steam will come out from the froth nozzle.
NOTE:
① When the machine starts to work, there will be some noise as it is pumping water with high pressure.
② While during operation, if there is suddenly a loud noise from the machine, it is due to the water in the water tank not being enough for pumping. Please pay attention to the water volume and add water in time. - Froth milk by moving the vessel round from up to down. After the milk increases in volume by 2 times or the required purpose is reached, turn the knob back to the [Middle Position] to stop. Take away the frothing pitcher.
- Press the power switch to [Power OFF] to cut off the power source.
- Let them cool down completely.
NOTE:
1. During milk frothing, if there is a sudden noise and small steam coming out, please check whether the water is enough and add water in time. When the water in the water tank is about to finish, it will produce a louder noise. After adding water, it will operate as usual.
2. When you finish frothing milk and turn the knob back to [Middle Position], if the temperature is lower, all the blue indicators will flash. The pressure relief hole will make a loud noise with some steam coming out from the drip tray. This is because the machine is relieving pressure, which is normal and not a problem.
Use Guide 2: Make Espresso Alone
Tips Before Operation
- Make sure to tear off the sealing tape from the bottom of the water tank. (If it has been torn, please skip this step.)
- Before making espresso, make sure the knob is in the [Standby] position. As the knob is a functional selection knob, if it is not in the [Standby] position, it means you have selected one of the functions, which could not operate the following steps.
- Do not make espresso immediately after milk frothing. You should wait until all the blue indicators stop flashing, then continue to make espresso from step 3. As with NTC precision thermostats, the espresso extraction temperature is controlled at 197°F, while the milk frothing temperature is at 212°F. If the temperature is too high to make espresso, steam will splash from the portafilter and hot water will drip off, resulting in a small amount of coffee and a bad taste.
- Plug in the power cord, press power switch to the [Power ON] position; all the blue indicators will flash as the appliance starts heating. (If you had operated the machine just now, skip this step.)
- Place the 2-cup mesh inside the portafilter, making sure the tube on the mesh aligns with the groove in the portafilter. To achieve a full flavor, 7g of coffee powder is best for one cup of espresso. To avoid leaking, coffee powder should be tamped BELOW the MAX line of the portafilter. However, powder could not be tamped too firmly, otherwise the coffee will not flow out smoothly.
- Faced up the portafilter, then install it in parallel to the machine from "Insert" to "Lock" in place, otherwise the coffee will splash and leak from the gap of the connection position.
- When all the blue indicators stop flashing, it shows the heating is finished. Make sure the knob is on the [Function Select] position. Never skip to step 6 before the blue indicators stop flashing, as if the temperature is not suitable for making espresso, it will affect the coffee taste.
- Place a cup on the drip tray. Turn the knob to the far side [Function Select]. If the cup is tall, you can remove the drip tray cover and put the cup into the drip tray.
- After the screen stops flashing, select "1 Shot" or "2 Shot" according to the mesh you used.
TIPS: 1 Shot of espresso is about 30ml.
NOTE:
① When the machine starts to work, there will be some noise as it is pumping water with high pressure.
② While during operation, if there is suddenly a loud noise from the machine, it may be due to the water in the water tank not being enough for pumping. After adding water, it will operate as usual. - Wait for a moment, the espresso will flow out. Take away the cup. Espresso is done. When finish brewing coffee, turn the knob back to [Middle Position].
- Press the power switch to [Power OFF] to cut off the power source.
- Let them cool down completely.
NOTE:
1. When you finish frothing milk and turn the knob back to [Middle Position], if the temperature is lower, the screen will flash. The pressure relief hole will make a loud noise. This is because the machine is relieving pressure, which is normal and not a problem.
2. The portafilter should be removed after a while as the machine needs to relieve pressure. Otherwise, steam will splash out due to strong pressure. Please remove it in parallel. Because of high pressure, water will fully penetrate the coffee powder; it takes time for water to pass through and flow out of the coffee powder. So, it is normal that excess coffee will drip off.
Tips
During operation, if the espresso is dripping out and doesn't flow smoothly, please check if the water is not enough and add water in time. If not, please check whether the coffee powder is tamped too firmly, which will also cause the espresso flow to be unsmooth and result in a small volume.
Clean and Maintenance
How to Clean the Steam Nozzle
Please mind the hot water and operate carefully.
- To avoid blocking the froth nozzle, we suggest cleaning the froth nozzle immediately after finishing frothing milk. When all the blue indicators stop flashing, turn the knob to the far side [Function Select]. If the steam is weak, check whether the hole of the froth nozzle is blocked. If it is not cleaned in time, it will produce a bad smell. You can use a cleaning pin to clean and unblock the steam pipeline.
- Press and hold the froth wand, separate the stainless sleeve, and pull it out. Clean the nozzle with a wet sponge.
How to Clean the Seal Ring
Please mind the hot water and operate carefully.
NOTE: As the seal ring is designed to prevent leaking, once there is too much coffee powder left, the seal ring will be blocked. If the seal ring is blocked, it will lead to espresso leakage or splash when making espresso. For this reason and for health, we suggest you clean it immediately with hot water from the brewing function. If it is not cleaned in time, it will produce a bad smell.
- Uninstall the portafilter in parallel from the coffee outlet from the direction of "Lock" to "Insert", then put it down. Pour away the coffee powder.
- After all the blue indicators stop flashing, turn the knob to [Function Select], press one of the buttons. Water will come out and flush out the coffee powder inside.
- Turn the knob back to [Middle Position] to stop. And rinse the seal ring with a cloth.
Automatically Power-Off Function
After pressing the ON/OFF switch, if there is no operation within 15 minutes, the appliance will automatically enter standby mode.
Cleaning Mineral Deposits
- Fill the tank with water and descaler to the MAX level (the scale of water and descaler is 4:1; refer to the descaler instruction). Please use "household descaler". You can use citric acid (obtainable from chemists or drug stores) instead of the descaler (one hundred parts of water and three parts of citric acid).
- Turn the espresso/steam knob towards the [Function Select] symbol, press one of the buttons to brew about 100ml hot water. Then turn off the appliance and leave the descaling solution in the appliance for 5 minutes.
- Turn on the appliance and repeat Step 2 for three times.
- Repeat steps 2 for 2 times with tap water in the MAX level (it is not necessary to wait for 5 minutes).
