  • 1 x USB Charging Cable

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charge

Before first use, fully charge the device using the provided USB charging cable. Connect the USB cable to the meter's USB-C port and to a standard USB power adapter (not included). The battery indicator on the LCD screen will show charging status.

4.2 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button (⏻) to turn the device on or off. The device performs an automatic calibration upon startup.

4.3 Attaching the Pin Probe (Optional)

For pin-based measurements, connect the external pin probe cable to the USB-C port on the bottom of the meter. Ensure a secure connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Spherical Probe Mode (Non-Destructive)

This mode is ideal for quickly scanning large areas and detecting moisture without damaging the surface.

  1. Ensure the external pin probe is disconnected.
  2. Turn on the device. It will default to spherical probe mode.
  3. Place the spherical sensor directly onto the surface you wish to measure.
  4. The LCD will display a relative moisture value (0-100). This value indicates the presence and relative level of moisture.
  5. Important: This mode provides relative values and requires calibration for specific material types to interpret accurately. Refer to the manual for detailed calibration procedures if needed.

5.2 Pin Probe Mode (Destructive, Percentage Measurement)

Use this mode for precise percentage moisture content readings in wood and building materials.

  1. Connect the external pin probe to the meter's USB-C port. The device will automatically switch to pin probe mode.
  2. Select the appropriate material group (e.g., Wood, Building Material) using the "SET" button. Refer to the material group chart in the full manual for specific settings.
  3. Carefully insert the pins into the material you wish to measure. Ensure both pins penetrate the surface adequately.
  4. The LCD will display the moisture content as a percentage (%).
  5. Measurement Depth: The pin probe measures moisture content up to a depth of 20-40 mm.

5.3 Alarm System

The device features an intelligent alarm system to alert you to high moisture levels.

  • LED Indicator: A three-color LED (green, blue, red) provides a quick visual indication of moisture levels. Green typically indicates low moisture, blue moderate, and red high.
  • Audible Alarm: An audible beep will sound when moisture levels exceed a preset threshold (adjustable in spherical probe mode).
  • Mute Function: Press the "MUTE" button to silence the audible alarm for use in quiet environments.

5.4 Hold Function

Press the "HOLD" button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful when measuring in hard-to-reach areas where the display cannot be easily viewed during measurement. Press "HOLD" again to release the reading.

5.5 Important Considerations

  • Avoid Metal: When using the spherical probe, ensure there is no metal within approximately 2 inches (5 cm) of the testing area to prevent inaccurate readings.
  • Self-Test: The device includes a self-test function to ensure its quality and readiness before use. Consult the full manual for instructions on performing a self-test.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Charging

The device is equipped with a 1200 mAh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery. Recharge the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen. Use the provided USB charging cable.

6.2 Pin Replacement

The external pin probe features interchangeable pins. If the pins become dull or damaged, use the mini wrench to carefully remove them and install the provided replacement pins. Ensure the new pins are securely fastened.

6.3 Cleaning and Storage

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a USB power source and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • For spherical probe: Ensure no metal objects are near the measurement area. Perform calibration if relative values seem inconsistent.
    • For pin probe: Ensure pins are fully inserted and making good contact with the material. Verify the correct material group is selected. Check if pins are damaged and replace if necessary.
  • Display Issues: If the display is dim, check the backlight setting. If the display is frozen, try restarting the device.
  • Audible Alarm Not Working: Check if the mute function is activated.
  • Device Not Responding: Perform a self-test (refer to the full manual) or try a hard reset by holding the power button for an extended period (e.g., 10-15 seconds).
