Operating Instructions
Before You Begin
- Ensure the water tank is filled with distilled water.
- Confirm the brushroll is properly installed.
- The Shark SD201 is designed for use on sealed hard floors only, including hardwood, tile, laminate, vinyl, and stone. Do not use on unsealed surfaces.
General Operation
- Plug In: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The appliance will begin to heat up.
- Activate Steam: Once plugged in, the steam mop will automatically generate steam. You may see a light indicator.
- Begin Cleaning: Push the mop forward and backward over the floor surface. The brushroll will rotate, picking up debris, scrubbing, and sanitizing simultaneously.
- Sanitization: For optimal sanitization, move the mop slowly and evenly over the desired area. Refer to the Owner's Guide for specific sanitization instructions and dwell times.
- Debris Pickup: The mop is designed to pick up both wet and dry debris as it steams, eliminating the need for pre-sweeping.

Maintenance
After Each Use
- Unplug and Cool: Unplug the steam mop from the outlet and allow it to cool down completely before performing any maintenance.
- Empty Debris Tank: Remove the debris tank from the cleaning head. Dispose of collected wet and dry debris into a waste bin. Rinse the tank with water if necessary and allow it to air dry.
- Clean Brushroll: The brushroll is designed to be self-cleaning during operation. However, inspect it for any tangled hair or large debris and remove manually if present.
- Store: Place the steam mop on its storage tray. The tray is designed to hold the wet brushroll without direct contact with the floor.
