The Gotrax GKS Electric Scooter requires minimal assembly. All necessary tools are included in the box.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. You should find the main scooter body, handlebar, front wheel assembly, charger, and a small bag of screws and Allen wrenches.
  2. Attach Front Wheel: Align the front wheel assembly with the fork at the front of the scooter body. Secure it using the provided screws and Allen wrench. Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
  3. Install Handlebar: Insert the handlebar stem into the main column of the scooter. Align the holes and secure the handlebar using the remaining screws and Allen wrench. Make sure the handlebar is firmly in place and does not wobble.

Assembly typically takes about 10 minutes. No additional tools are needed beyond what is provided.

4. Operating Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the scooter's controls before riding.

Getting Started:

  1. Power On: Ensure the scooter is fully charged. Place one foot on the front foot sensor button on the deck.
  2. Kick-Start: Give the scooter a gentle kick-start with your other foot to gain initial momentum.
  3. Accelerate: Once moving, place your second foot on the rear foot sensor button. Press the right thumb button on the handlebar to engage the motor and accelerate. The motor will only engage when both foot sensors are pressed and the scooter has initial momentum.
  4. Braking: To slow down or stop, release the thumb button and/or press the left thumb button for the electronic brake. For immediate stops, use the rear foot brake by pressing down on the rear fender with your foot.

Riding Tips:

  • Maintain a balanced stance with both feet firmly on the deck.
  • Look ahead and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Practice accelerating and braking in a safe, open area before riding in more complex environments.

5. Charging the Battery

The scooter is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery located within the deck.

  • Charging Port: The charging port is located on the side of the scooter's deck, near the rear wheel. It has a protective cap.
  • Charging Time: A full charge takes approximately 5 hours.
  • Indicator Light: The charger's indicator light will be RED while charging and turn GREEN when the battery is fully charged.
  • Range: A full charge provides a maximum distance range of approximately 4 miles (6.4 km).

Always use the original charger provided with your scooter. Do not use other chargers as this may damage the battery or pose a safety risk.

6. Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your scooter.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the scooter with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Do not wash the scooter with high-pressure water.
  • Storage: Store the scooter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to about 50% every 30-60 days to maintain battery health.
  • Tires: The GKS uses solid rubber wheels, which are puncture-proof and require no inflation. Regularly inspect them for wear and tear.
  • General Inspection: Periodically check all screws and bolts to ensure they are tight. Inspect the brakes for proper function.
