1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Carpuride W712DT Motorcycle CarPlay & Android Auto System. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and safety.

2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when operating your motorcycle. Improper installation or use of this device can lead to accidents or injury. Adhere to all local traffic laws and regulations.

  • Ensure the device is securely mounted and does not obstruct your view or control of the motorcycle.
  • Do not attempt to operate the device or adjust settings while riding. Perform all adjustments when the motorcycle is safely stopped.
  • Verify all wiring connections are secure and protected from water and vibration.
  • The device is IP67 waterproof, but avoid prolonged submersion or high-pressure water jets directly on connections.

3. Setup

3.1 Mounting the Device

The Carpuride W712DT comes with a robust bracket system for secure attachment to your motorcycle handlebars. Choose the appropriate silicone pads based on your handlebar diameter (12mm, 22mm, 25.4mm, or 28mm).

  1. Choose the appropriate thickness of silicone pads based on the diameter of your motorcycle handlebar.
  2. Attach the metal mount to the handlebar using a Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Clamp the connecting rod to the metal mount.
  4. Insert the device and adjust its position as desired. Tighten the adjustment ring to secure.
  5. Installation is complete. The ball tip can be removed from the bracket for separate installation if no extension rod is needed.

3.2 Wiring Installation

The device offers dual power options: direct connection to the motorcycle battery or via the motorcycle's USB port using a boost cable.

Option 1: Direct Battery Connection (Power Cable)

  • Connect the ground wire (black) to the motorcycle battery's negative terminal.
  • Connect the power wire (red) to the motorcycle battery's positive terminal (ACC).
  • Connect the front camera, rear camera, and wired controller cables to their respective ports on the main unit's power cord.

Option 2: USB Port Connection (USB Cable)

  • Connect the USB boost cable to the motorcycle's USB port. Ensure the USB port provides 4.5V and 2.5A or higher power to prevent shutdowns.
  • Connect the front camera, rear camera, and wired controller cables to their respective ports on the main unit's power cord.

The W712DT has built-in reverse protection, preventing damage if cables are connected incorrectly.

3.3 TPMS Sensor Installation

The system includes two tire pressure sensors for real-time monitoring.

  1. Screw out the existing valve cap from your tire.
  2. Rotate the nut counter-clockwise onto the valve stem.
  3. Check for air leakage by applying soapy water around the valve stem and sensor.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, ensure it is correctly wired and your motorcycle's ignition is on. The device should power on automatically. To power off, turn off your motorcycle's ignition. For manual power control, press and hold the power button on the wired controller for more than 5 seconds.

4.2 Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto Connection

The W712DT supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration.

Apple CarPlay Connection

  1. On the W712DT screen, open the CarPlay application.
  2. On your iPhone, search for the device's Bluetooth name (e.g., "carpuride-xxxx") and pair.
  3. Click "Allow" and "Use CarPlay" on your iPhone when prompted.
  4. The connection should be successful, and CarPlay will display on the screen.

Android Auto Connection

  1. On the W712DT screen, open the Android Auto application.
  2. On your Android phone, find the connected devices in your Bluetooth settings.
  3. Add a new device (e.g., "carpuride-xxxx") and click "Pair."
  4. The connection should be successful, and Android Auto will display on the screen.

Compatibility Requirements

  • For Wireless CarPlay: Requires an iPhone running iOS 6 or above. CarPlay system and iPhone's voice system must be turned on. Siri must be enabled.
  • For Wireless Android Auto: Requires a phone that supports 5GHz Wi-Fi, runs Android 11 or above, and has the Android Auto app installed and updated to the latest version.

Before purchasing, please ensure your phone supports wireless CarPlay or wireless Android Auto.

4.3 Dual Camera DVR Function

The W712DT is equipped with HD 1080P 30FPS 140° wide-angle front and rear cameras for continuous loop recording. A 64GB TF card is included for storage. When the card is full, older videos are automatically deleted to make space for new recordings.

  • Split-Screen Functionality: In DVR mode, the device supports simultaneous display of both front and rear camera views.
  • Loop Recording: Ensures continuous recording without manual management of storage space.

4.4 TPMS Setup and Monitoring

After installing the TPMS sensors, you need to pair them with the device.

  1. Open Settings on the device and check the system software version to confirm TPMS support.
  2. Switch to the correct vehicle mode (e.g., 2-wheeled motorcycle).
  3. Bind all current sensors step-by-step based on the number of wheels. For a 2-wheeled motorcycle, confirm 2 sensors.
  4. Enter the sensor pairing codes to complete the setup.
  5. Optional: Set custom alarm values for tire pressure according to your needs.

4.5 Screen Rotation

The 7-inch HD IPS display (1024×600) supports rotation between portrait and landscape modes.

  • Portrait Mode: Provides an extended navigation view, useful for seeing more of the road ahead.
  • Landscape Mode: Ideal for multimedia and split-screen use.

Notes:

  • When clicking the "Screen Rotation" button, the device will automatically shut down and restart. This process takes approximately 5-8 seconds.
  • When installing the camera, first check the camera's forward and reverse orientation against the display. If the display is reversed, loosen the screws, rotate the camera in the correct direction, and then tighten the screws.

4.6 Wired Controller Functions

The included wired controller provides convenient access to key functions without touching the screen.

  • Cycle Button: Short press to answer incoming calls. Press and hold for more than 5 seconds to power on/off the device.
  • Photo Button: Short press to take a picture. Press and hold for 3 seconds to lock the video recording.
  • Home Button: Short press to toggle between the main screen and the current CarPlay/Android Auto interface. Press and hold for more than 5 seconds to disable the touch function. Long press for 5 seconds to unlock.

Note: When using an Android phone with the W712DT, the cycle button does not support answering incoming calls.

4.7 Bluetooth Audio

Connect your smartphone to the W712DT via Bluetooth, then connect the W712DT to your Bluetooth-enabled headset or helmet for hands-free communication and audio playback.

  1. Connect your phone to the headset or helmet via Bluetooth.
  2. After your mobile phone is connected to the W712DT via Bluetooth.
  3. Enter CarPlay or Android Auto and play audio or call through BT headsets or helmets.

Note: Ensure your Bluetooth headset or helmet has microphones for phone calls and voice controls.

4.8 Light Sensor

The device features a light-sensing design that automatically adjusts screen brightness based on ambient light conditions. This helps protect your eyes and ensures optimal visibility during both daytime and nighttime riding.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean the screen and device body, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the screen or casing. Ensure the device is powered off before cleaning.

5.2 Software Updates

Periodically check the manufacturer's website or contact customer support for available software updates. Keeping your device's software up-to-date ensures optimal performance, compatibility, and access to new features. If you experience connection issues on Android 16, please update SuperLink on both your phone and device to the latest version for improved compatibility.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Carpuride W712DT, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device does not power on:
    Check all power connections. Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the device and the motorcycle's power source (battery or USB). If using USB, confirm the motorcycle's USB port outputs at least 4.5V/2.5A.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto connection issues:
    Ensure your smartphone meets the compatibility requirements (iOS version, Android version, 5GHz Wi-Fi for Android Auto, Siri enabled). Restart both your phone and the W712DT. Forget and re-pair the Bluetooth connection. Update the SuperLink app on your phone and device if applicable.
  • No image from cameras:
    Verify that the front and rear cameras are securely connected to the main unit. Check the camera orientation as described in the Screen Rotation section (4.5).
  • TPMS sensors not displaying data:
    Ensure sensors are correctly installed and paired as per section 3.3 and 4.4. Check the system software version for TPMS support.
  • Screen glare or insufficient brightness:
    The device has an adaptive light sensor. Ensure it is not obstructed. You can also manually adjust screen brightness in the settings.
  • Wired controller not responding:
    Check the wired controller's connection to the main unit. Ensure the device is powered on.
