Operating Instructions
1. Making Espresso

- Prepare Portafilter: Insert either the single or double shot filter basket into the portafilter.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Use the included scoop to add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. For a single shot, use one scoop; for a double shot, use two scoops.
- Tamp Grounds: Use the flat end of the scoop/tamper to firmly press down the coffee grounds. Ensure the surface is level.
- Attach Portafilter: Slide the portafilter into the machine from the front and lock it into place by turning the handle to the side.
- Place Cup(s): Position one or two espresso cups under the portafilter spouts.
- Brew Espresso: Ensure the machine is ON and the ready-to-brew light is solid. Press the 1-shot or 2-shot button for automatic dispensing, or use the manual button to control the volume to your liking. Observe the pressure dial for optimal extraction (typically in the green zone).

2. Frothing Milk

- Prepare Milk: Fill a metal frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or plant-based) to about one-third full.
- Activate Steam: Ensure the machine is ON. Press the steam button to preheat the frothing wand. The indicator light will blink and then become solid when ready.
- Position Wand: Submerge the tip of the frothing wand just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher.
- Start Frothing: Turn the steam dial to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down slightly to create foam. For steaming, submerge the wand deeper into the milk.
- Stop Frothing: Once desired foam or temperature is reached, turn the steam dial off and remove the pitcher.
- Clean Wand: Immediately wipe the frothing wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly release steam into an empty cup to clear any internal blockages.
Care and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
1. Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Remove and empty the drip tray after each use. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse.
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Remove used coffee grounds. Wash the portafilter and filter baskets with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Steam Wand: As described in the operating section, wipe immediately after use and purge steam.
- Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
2. Water Reservoir
- Empty and rinse the water reservoir daily. Wash periodically with warm, soapy water.
3. Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, depending on water hardness).
- Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, or a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
- Follow the descaling solution's instructions or run the vinegar solution through the machine as if brewing coffee, then rinse thoroughly with several cycles of fresh water.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee dispenses | Water reservoir empty; clogged filter; machine not primed. | Fill reservoir; clean filter; prime machine. |
| Espresso brews too slowly | Coffee grounds too fine or tamped too hard. | Use coarser grind; tamp with less pressure. |
| Espresso brews too quickly | Coffee grounds too coarse or not tamped enough. | Use finer grind; tamp with more pressure. |
| Milk not frothing well | Steam wand clogged; milk not cold enough. | Clean steam wand; use fresh, cold milk. |
| Water leaking from machine | Water reservoir not seated correctly; drip tray full. | Ensure reservoir is secure; empty drip tray. |
