GoGonova Metal Detector GT33002-US-1 Instruction Manual

Model: GT33002-US-1

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your GoGonova Metal Detector (Model GT33002-US-1). Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and to maximize your treasure hunting experience. This metal detector is designed for both adults and children, offering two operational modes and an intuitive display for efficient metal detection.

  • Search Coil: The primary component for detecting metal objects. This 8-inch coil is IP68 waterproof.
  • Control Box: Houses the electronics, LCD display, and control buttons. Note: The control box is not waterproof.
  • Adjustable Stem: Allows for length adjustment from 39.3 inches to 51.3 inches to suit users of different heights.
  • Handle Grip: Provides a comfortable hold during operation.
  • Armrest: Supports the forearm for reduced fatigue during extended use.

5. Assembly

The GoGonova Metal Detector is designed for quick and easy assembly:

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Connect the search coil to the lower stem using the provided bolt and knob. Ensure it is securely fastened but allows for slight angle adjustment.
  2. Connect Stem Sections: Insert the lower stem into the middle stem, and then the middle stem into the upper stem (which is attached to the control box). Secure each section using the stem lock knobs.
  3. Adjust Length: Adjust the stem to a comfortable length for your height. The detector should allow you to sweep the coil parallel to the ground without bending excessively.
  4. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control box and insert the two 9V batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Connect Coil Cable: Wrap the search coil cable around the stem and plug the connector into the corresponding port on the control box. Ensure the cable is not taut or loose.
  6. Attach Armrest: Slide the armrest onto the upper stem if not already attached, positioning it for comfort.

6. Control Panel Overview

The intuitive LCD display and control buttons allow for easy operation:

  • Power ON/OFF Button: Press and hold for 1-2 seconds to turn the detector on or off.
  • SENS Key: Adjusts sensitivity. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals.
  • Backlight Key: Toggles the LCD backlight for use in low-light conditions.
  • DISC Key: Activates Discrimination Mode, allowing you to filter out unwanted metal types.
  • EAR Jack: For connecting the anti-noise earphones.
  • LCD Display: Shows Target ID Cursor, Coin Depth Cursor, SENS Cursor, Battery Cursor, and Overload indicator.

Important: Please remove the protective film from the LCD screen before first use for optimal clarity.

7. Operating Modes

Your GoGonova Metal Detector features two primary operating modes:

7.1. All Metal Mode (A-M Mode)

In this mode, the detector will respond to all types of metal. This is ideal for general searching when you want to find any metallic object, regardless of its composition. To activate, press the MODE button (if available, otherwise it's the default mode or selected via DISC key). The display will indicate that all metal types are being detected.

7.2. Discrimination Mode (DISC Mode)

Discrimination Mode allows you to filter out specific types of metal, such as iron or foil, to focus on more valuable targets like coins or jewelry. Press the DISC key to enter this mode. You can then adjust the discrimination level to ignore certain metals. The display will show which metal types are being excluded from detection.

8. Basic Operation

Follow these steps for effective metal detection:

  1. Power On: Press and hold the Power ON/OFF button for 1-2 seconds.
  2. Select Mode: Choose between All Metal Mode or Discrimination Mode using the DISC key, based on your search objectives.
  3. Adjust Sensitivity: Use the SENS key to adjust the sensitivity. Start with a medium setting and increase if needed, reducing if false signals occur.
  4. Sweeping Technique: Hold the detector with the search coil parallel to the ground, about 1-2 inches above the surface. Sweep the coil slowly from side to side in overlapping arcs.

Image 8.1: Proper sweeping involves keeping the coil parallel to the ground and moving it slowly.
  • Target Indication: When a metal object is detected, the detector will emit an audible tone, and the LCD display will show a Target ID Cursor and potentially a Coin Depth Cursor.
  • Pinpointing: Once a target is indicated, narrow down its location by sweeping the coil in a smaller 'X' pattern over the area. The strongest signal indicates the center of the target.
  • Digging: Use the multi-functional shovel to carefully excavate the target.

Note: The GoGonova metal detector is more suitable for outdoor use. Indoor environments often have too many interferences that can cause inaccurate readings.

8.1. Using the Waterproof Search Coil

The 8-inch search coil is IP68 waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water, such as beaches or creeks. Ensure the control box remains dry as it is not waterproof.

9. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the detector with a damp cloth after each use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the Battery Cursor on the LCD indicates low power. Always use fresh 9V batteries.
  • Coil Care: Avoid striking the search coil against hard surfaces. While waterproof, excessive force can cause damage.

10. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Detector does not power on.Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery installation.Replace batteries with fresh 9V batteries; ensure correct polarity. Press and hold power button for 1-2 seconds.
False signals or erratic behavior.High sensitivity setting; electromagnetic interference; mineralized ground.Reduce sensitivity; move away from power lines or electronic devices; try detecting in a different area.
No detection or weak signals.Low sensitivity setting; search coil not parallel to ground; target too deep.Increase sensitivity; ensure proper sweeping technique; target may be beyond detection depth.
LCD screen is blurry or scratched.Protective film still on screen.Gently peel off the screen protector.
