Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective use of your PETZL Swift RL headlamp. The Swift RL is a compact, powerful, and lightweight rechargeable headlamp featuring REACTIVE LIGHTING® technology, designed for various outdoor activities and professional use. It delivers up to 1100 lumens of brightness and weighs only 110 grams.
Setup
1. Charging the Battery
The PETZL Swift RL headlamp is equipped with a 2350 mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.
- Locate the USB-C charging port on the headlamp.
- Connect the provided USB-C cable to the headlamp and a USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
- The battery indicator lights will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes 5 hours.
- Disconnect the cable once charging is complete.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Mode Selection
The headlamp features a single button for all primary controls.
- Power On: Press the button once. The lamp will turn on in the last used lighting mode.
- Change Lighting Mode: With the lamp on, press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available lighting modes (REACTIVE LIGHTING®, Standard Lighting, Red Light).
- Power Off: Press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds.

2. REACTIVE LIGHTING® Technology
REACTIVE LIGHTING® mode automatically adjusts brightness and beam pattern based on ambient light, optimizing battery usage and visual comfort.
- When in REACTIVE LIGHTING® mode, a sensor on the front of the headlamp continuously analyzes the surrounding light.
- The headlamp will automatically increase brightness for distance vision and decrease it for close-range work, extending burn time.

3. Standard Lighting Mode
Standard Lighting mode provides constant brightness levels, which can be manually selected.
- Cycle through brightness levels by pressing the button while in Standard Lighting mode.
4. Red Light Mode
Red light preserves night vision and is useful for discreet illumination.
- Access red light mode by cycling through the main lighting modes.
- A red strobe function is also available for signaling.
5. Lock Function
To prevent accidental activation during transport or storage, the headlamp can be locked.
- Lock: With the lamp off, press and hold the button until the red indicator flashes, then release.
- Unlock: Press and hold the button until the red indicator flashes again, then release.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Clean the headlamp with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed to maintain water resistance.
2. Battery Care
- For optimal battery life, avoid completely draining the battery frequently.
- If storing the headlamp for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% and recharge every 6 months.
- The battery is designed for approximately 300 charging cycles before significant capacity reduction.
3. Water and Impact Resistance
The Swift RL is rated IP54 for water resistance, meaning it is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction. It is also impact resistant (IK05) and fall resistant up to 1 meter (ANSI/PLATO FL 1).
- Do not submerge the headlamp in water.
- While durable, avoid unnecessary drops or impacts to prolong the product's lifespan.
Troubleshooting
- Headlamp not turning on:
- Ensure the battery is charged.
- Check if the headlamp is in lock mode. Unlock it by pressing and holding the button.
- Low brightness or short burn time:
- Fully charge the battery.
- Ensure the lens and sensor are clean.
- In REACTIVE LIGHTING® mode, ambient light conditions can affect perceived brightness.
- Battery capacity may decrease over time with extensive use (after approximately 300 cycles).
- Battery not charging:
- Verify the USB-C cable is properly connected to both the headlamp and the power source.
- Try a different USB-C cable or power source.
- Ensure the charging port is clean and free of debris.
If issues persist, contact PETZL customer support.
