3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack the FacePass 7 Pro device and verify that all components are present and undamaged. The package should include the time clock unit, power adapter, mounting hardware, and two backup RFID cards.
3.2 Mounting the Device
The FacePass 7 Pro can be installed via wall mount or placed on a countertop. Choose a location that is easily accessible for employees and has stable power and network connectivity.
- Wall Mount: Use the provided mounting template and hardware to securely attach the device to a wall at an appropriate height for facial recognition. Ensure the mounting surface is stable.
- Countertop Mount: Place the device on a flat, stable surface. Ensure it is positioned to allow clear access for users.

3.3 Power Connection
Connect the provided power adapter to the device and plug it into a standard electrical outlet. The device will power on automatically.
3.4 Network Connectivity
The FacePass 7 Pro supports both wired (LAN) and wireless (Wi-Fi) network connections.
- LAN Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from the device's LAN port to your network router or switch.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Navigate to the device's settings menu, select Wi-Fi, and connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Note: The device only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If using a 5GHz Wi-Fi router, connect via Ethernet or use a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bridge.
3.5 Initial Configuration
Upon first power-on or after a factory reset, follow the on-screen prompts on the 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen to set up basic parameters such as language, date, and time. Administrators can then proceed with user registration.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 User Registration
Before employees can use the device, their data must be registered. This can be done directly on the device or through the CrossChex Cloud software.
- On-Device Registration: Access the administrator menu on the touchscreen. Select 'User Management' to add new users, register their facial templates, RFID cards, and PINs. The intuitive interface and bulk user registration features simplify this process.
- Cloud Software Registration: Log in to your CrossChex Cloud account. Navigate to 'Employee Management' to add new employees and assign their authentication credentials. Data will synchronize with the device.
4.2 Punching Options
Employees can clock in and out using one of the following methods:
- Facial Recognition: Stand in front of the device. The camera will detect your face, and upon successful recognition, the device will confirm your punch. This method is quick and hygienic.
- RFID Card: Present your registered RFID card to the card reader area on the device. The device will beep and confirm your punch. Two backup RFID cards are included; additional cards can be purchased.
- PIN: Enter your registered PIN on the touchscreen keypad and confirm your punch.

4.3 Door Access Functionality
The FacePass 7 Pro can be integrated with a door access system. When configured, a successful authentication (face, card, or PIN) will trigger the relay output to unlock the door.
- Wiring: Connect the device's relay output to your door lock mechanism and the exit button interface to an exit button, following the wiring diagram in the detailed installation guide.
- Configuration: In the device's settings or CrossChex Cloud, enable and configure the door access parameters, including unlock duration and access groups.

4.4 CrossChex Cloud Software
The CrossChex Cloud software provides a centralized platform for managing time and attendance data from your FacePass 7 Pro device.
- Access: Access the cloud software via any web browser. No local software installation is required.
- Employee Management: Add, edit, and manage employee information, including their authentication methods and assigned schedules.
- Attendance Tracking: View real-time attendance data, track punches, and monitor employee status from anywhere, at any time.
- Reporting: Generate robust reports for payroll, attendance analysis, and other management needs. Reports can be customized for weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly pay periods.
- Scheduling: Easily set up attendance rules and manage employee schedules, including support for three shifts and overnight work.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Device
To ensure optimal performance, especially for facial recognition, keep the device's screen and camera lens clean.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
- For stubborn smudges, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a non-abrasive screen cleaner.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the screen or sensors.
5.2 Software Updates
The CrossChex Cloud software is regularly updated. Ensure your device is connected to the internet to receive automatic firmware updates, which improve performance and add new features. Check the CrossChex Cloud portal for notifications regarding updates.
5.3 Data Management
The CrossChex Cloud automatically stores and backs up your attendance data. Regularly review reports and export data as needed for your records. The large storage capacity of 1,500 users and 100,000 logs ensures data is retained for a significant period.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device Not Powering On: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the device and a working electrical outlet.
- No Network Connection:
- LAN: Check the Ethernet cable connection and verify your router/switch is operational.
- Wi-Fi: Confirm the device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Verify the Wi-Fi password and signal strength. Restart your router if necessary.
- Facial Recognition Issues:
- Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
- Verify the user's facial template is properly registered and up-to-date.
- Ensure adequate lighting conditions. The device automatically adapts LED lights for enhanced capturing.
- Maintain an appropriate distance from the device during recognition.
- RFID Card Not Reading: Ensure the RFID card is registered to the user. Present the card correctly to the reader area.
- Offline Mode: If the internet is down, the device will securely capture punches locally. Data will automatically upload to CrossChex Cloud once connectivity is restored.
- Cloud Software Access Issues: Verify your internet connection and login credentials for CrossChex Cloud.
