5. Setup and Installation

Wiring Instructions:

Use the provided 6-pin FPV silicone cable to connect the camera to your flight controller or video transmitter.

  • Power Connection (5-24V & GND): Connect the 5-24V wire to a regulated power output on your flight controller or PDB (Power Distribution Board) that matches the camera's voltage range. Connect the GND wire to a common ground point.
  • Video Output (Video): Connect the Video wire to the video input of your video transmitter (VTX) or FPV goggles/monitor.
  • OSD Control (Menu & VBAT+):
    • Connect the Menu wire to the OSD control board (joystick) for accessing camera settings.
    • Connect the VBAT+ wire to a positive battery voltage source (e.g., directly to your main flight battery's positive terminal) if you wish to display the battery voltage on the camera's OSD. Ensure this voltage is within the camera's operating range (5-24V).

Mounting the Camera:

The RunCam Night Eagle 3 is designed for micro FPV applications. Use the included screws to securely mount the camera to your drone frame or desired platform. Ensure the lens is clear of obstructions and protected from impacts.

  • The camera features M2 screw holes for mounting.
  • Ensure the camera is oriented correctly for your FPV system.

6. Operating Instructions

Basic Operation:

Once properly wired and powered, the camera will automatically output video. The integrated OSD will display information such as pilot name, timer, and battery voltage (if VBAT+ is connected).

OSD Menu Navigation:

Use the included 5D-OSD menu control board (joystick) to access and adjust camera settings. Connect the control board to the 'Menu' pin on the camera's connector.

  • Press the center button: To enter the main OSD menu.
  • Move joystick Up/Down: To navigate through menu options.
  • Move joystick Right: To enter a sub-menu or increase a value.
  • Move joystick Left: To decrease a value or go back.
  • Long press the center button: To save settings and exit the menu.

Video Format (NTSC/PAL):

The camera supports both NTSC and PAL video systems. You can switch between these formats via the OSD menu to match your FPV receiver/goggles.

Aspect Ratio (16:9/4:3):

The camera allows you to select between 16:9 (widescreen) and 4:3 (standard) aspect ratios through the OSD menu. Choose the ratio that best suits your FPV display device.
