RunCam Racer MCK Edition USER MANUAL
Joystick Control & UART Control Switchable
The RunCam Racer MCK Edition camera supports both Joystick Control and UART Control, which can be switched. The current control mode is displayed in the top-left corner of the screen. The default mode is Joystick control.
Switching Control Modes
To switch modes:
- Short the two camera control pins.
- Power on the camera. The camera will automatically switch between the two modes.
Note: The selected mode is saved after power off. Once the desired mode is active, unplug the short-circuit cable.
Visual Description of Mode Switching: The manual illustrates two states: "JOYSTICK CTRL" displaying a timer and voltage, and "UART CTRL" displaying a timer and voltage, indicating the camera's active control mode.
UART Control Compatibility
UART Control is compatible with the following flight controllers:
- BetaFlight 3.3 or above
- ButterFlight 3.4 or above
- CleanFlight 2.2 or above
- Kiss Flight RC36 or above
Wiring and Configuration
Joystick Control Wiring
Diagram Description: Shows connections from the camera (VBAT+, GND, Video out) to a power source and display. It also indicates a connection for an OSD Key-press Board (not included).
Connections:
- To VBAT+: 5-36V in
- GND
- Video out
- VBAT+
UART Control Wiring
Diagram Description: Illustrates connecting the camera's UART pins (TX, RX) to a flight controller's UART pins (e.g., UART3 RX3, TX3). The RunCam TX200 component is shown with its power and ground connections.
Example: Connecting to UART3.
Flight Controller Wiring:
- RunCam TX200 (3.5-5.5v in, GND)
- Flight controller RX3 (connected to RunCam TX)
- Flight controller TX3 (connected to RunCam RX)
Betaflight Configuration
Diagram Description: A table details Betaflight configuration settings for different UART ports, including Identifier, Configuration/MS Serial Rx, Telemetry Output, Sensor Input, and Peripherals for UART1 through UART5.
Key Settings for UART3 (Example):
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Identifier | UART3 |
Configuration/MS Serial Rx | 115200 |
Telemetry Output | Disabled AUTO |
Sensor Input | Disabled AUTO |
Peripherals | RunCam Device AUTO |
UART Control Operation
The manual describes two modes of UART control operation, indicated by connection status and buzzer feedback from the flight controller.
Mode-2 Operation
Connect: Buzzer beeps 3 times. Operation: Use UP ⬆️, DOWN ⬇️, LEFT ⬅️, RIGHT ➡️, ENTER buttons for menu navigation, scene switching, voltage calibration, and OSD reset.
Disconnect: Buzzer beeps 2 times.
Mode-1 Operation
Connect: Buzzer beeps 3 times. Operation: Use UP ⬆️, DOWN ⬇️, LEFT ⬅️, RIGHT ➡️, ENTER buttons for menu navigation, scene switching, voltage calibration, and OSD reset.
Disconnect: Buzzer beeps 2 times.
Note: If connected successfully, long-pressing the UP button enters the OSD menu, RIGHT switches presets, LEFT calibrates voltage, and DOWN resets OSD.
