Setup
Initial Charging
The Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low charge state. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch dial to a bright light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot environments to prevent overheating.
Setting the Time and Date

Maintenance
Eco-Drive Charging
To maintain optimal performance, ensure your watch is regularly exposed to light. A fully charged Eco-Drive watch can operate for several months in darkness. If the watch stops or the second hand moves in two-second intervals, it indicates a low charge and requires immediate exposure to light.
- Charging Time Guidelines:
- Sunlight (clear sky): Approximately 11 hours for a full charge from stopped state.
- Overcast sky: Approximately 40 hours for a full charge from stopped state.
- Fluorescent lamp (30W, 20 inches): Approximately 130 hours for a full charge from stopped state.
Water Resistance
This watch is rated for 100 meters (WR100/10Bar/33.3ft) water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. It is not intended for scuba diving.

To maintain water resistance:
- Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
- Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes (e.g., hot shower immediately followed by cold water).
- Rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to saltwater and dry thoroughly.
Cleaning and Care
- Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the leather strap, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals to prevent damage and discoloration.
- Store the watch in a well-lit area to ensure continuous charging, or in a cool, dry place if storing for extended periods.
Troubleshooting
- Watch has stopped or second hand moves in 2-second intervals: The watch is in a low charge state. Expose the dial to a bright light source for several hours.
- Time or date is incorrect: Refer to the "Setting the Time and Date" section under Setup to manually adjust. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in after adjustment.
- Chronograph hands do not reset to zero: Perform a chronograph zero-position correction. Consult the full instruction manual for your specific caliber (E820) for detailed steps, which typically involve pulling the crown to the second click and using the pushers to align the hands.
- Condensation inside the crystal: This may indicate a breach in water resistance. Contact Citizen customer support or an authorized service center immediately.
