This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Shark UV650 Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum. Please read all instructions carefully before use and retain this manual for future reference.

2. Important Safety Instructions
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be observed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using this vacuum cleaner.
- Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
- Do not use without dust cup and/or filters in place.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power and Mode Selection
The Shark UV650 Navigator offers versatile cleaning modes for different surfaces. The power switch is located on the main unit.
- Position '0' (Off): Turns the vacuum cleaner off.
- Position 'I' (Hard Floor): Provides suction for bare floors without engaging the brush roll.
- Position 'II' (Carpet): Engages the brush roll for deep cleaning carpets and rugs.

3.2 Lift-Away Mode
The unique Lift-Away feature allows you to detach the canister from the floor nozzle for portable cleaning. This is ideal for stairs, upholstery, and hard-to-reach areas.
- Press the Lift-Away button located on the main unit.
- Lift the canister away from the floor nozzle.
- Attach desired cleaning tools to the end of the wand or hose.

3.3 Using Attachments
Your vacuum comes with various attachments designed for specific cleaning tasks. These can be used with the wand or directly on the hose in Lift-Away mode.
- Crevice Tool: For cleaning tight spaces, corners, and along baseboards.
- Upholstery Tool: Designed to remove pet hair, dust, and debris from furniture and other upholstered surfaces.
- Pet Power Brush: (If included) For deep cleaning pet hair from carpets and upholstery.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance of your vacuum cleaner.
4.1 Emptying the Dust Cup
Empty the dust cup after each use or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.
- Ensure the vacuum is unplugged.
- Press the dust cup release latch and lift the dust cup off the pod.
- Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and press the bottom release latch to open the bottom of the dust cup.
- Close the bottom flap until it clicks securely.

4.2 Cleaning Filters
Rinse the foam and felt filters every 3 months, or as needed. Allow them to air dry completely before reinstalling.
4.3 Cleaning the Brush Roll
Periodically check the brush roll for any hair, string, or debris that may be wrapped around it. Use scissors to carefully cut away any obstructions.
5. Troubleshooting
If your Shark UV650 Navigator is not performing as expected, consult the following common issues:
- Vacuum not picking up debris: Check if the dust cup is full, filters are dirty, or there is a blockage in the hose or nozzle.
- Vacuum turns off: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged in. Check for tripped circuit breakers. The vacuum may have overheated; allow it to cool for at least 45 minutes.
- Brush roll not spinning: Ensure the vacuum is in 'Carpet' mode (Position II). Check for blockages in the brush roll area.
