1. Introduction and Overview

The Vicks 3-in-1 SleepyTime Humidifier, Diffuser, and Night Light (Model VUL500) is designed to enhance your environment by providing cool mist humidification, essential oil diffusion, and a soothing night light. This device helps maintain optimal humidity levels, which can temporarily relieve dry air discomforts and support better breathing and sleep.

2. Important Safety Information

READ AND SAVE THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.

• Always place the humidifier on a firm, flat, waterproof surface at least 12 inches (30 cm) away from walls and 3 feet (0.9 m) from heat sources.
• Do not operate the humidifier without water in the tank.
• Do not add essential oils directly to the water tank unless specifically designed for it. This model allows essential oils to be added directly to the tank water. Refer to essential oil labeling for usage and dosage instructions.
• Unplug the humidifier before filling, cleaning, or moving it.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• Do not block air vents or mist outlet.
• Do not use detergents, gasoline, glass cleaner, furniture polish, paint thinner, or other household solvents to clean any part of the humidifier.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for initial setup:

1. Placement: Place the humidifier on a firm, level, waterproof surface. Ensure it is away from walls, furniture, and electronics.
2. Fill Water Tank:
   • Remove the water tank from the base.
   • Unscrew the tank cap and fill the tank with cool, clean tap water. Distilled water is recommended to minimize mineral buildup.
   • If using essential oils, add a few drops directly to the water in the tank. Refer to essential oil instructions for appropriate amounts.
   • Securely replace the tank cap and place the tank back onto the base.
3. Insert VapoPad (Optional): Open the VapoPad slot on the front of the humidifier and insert one Vicks VapoPad. Close the slot securely.
4. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

To operate your Vicks 3-in-1 SleepyTime Humidifier:

1. Power On/Mist Control: Turn the control dial clockwise to the desired mist output level. The power indicator light will illuminate.
2. Night Light Function:
   • Press the night light button to cycle through the available colors or to set it to a specific color.
   • Press again to turn the night light off.
3. Essential Oil Diffusion: If essential oils were added to the water tank, the aroma will diffuse with the mist. If using VapoPads, the soothing vapors will be released.
4. Automatic Shut-off: The humidifier will automatically turn off when the water tank is empty.
5. Power Off: Turn the control dial counter-clockwise until it clicks to the "OFF" position. Unplug the unit when not in use.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and to prevent mineral buildup and bacterial growth.

Daily Maintenance:

• Turn off and unplug the unit.
• Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
• Rinse the water tank and base with cool water.
• Wipe all surfaces dry.

Weekly Cleaning (Descaling):

1. Turn off and unplug the unit.
2. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
3. Clean the Water Tank: Fill the tank with 1 cup of undiluted white vinegar. Swish the vinegar around in the tank to coat all surfaces. Let it stand for 20 minutes. Empty the vinegar and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
4. Clean the Base: Pour 1/2 cup of undiluted white vinegar into the base. Let it stand for 20 minutes. Gently wipe the base with a soft cloth or brush to remove mineral deposits. Empty the vinegar and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not submerge the base in water.
5. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
