3. Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your VINGLI Pool Cover Reel. Assembly is designed to be straightforward, typically taking only a few minutes.
3.1 Connecting the Base and Handle

- Attach the Frame Support to the bottom of the Crank Frame.

3.2 Attaching the Bases to Your Pool
The VINGLI Pool Cover Reel offers two primary methods for attaching the bases, depending on your pool type:
- Base Plate: Designed for mounting on a flat pool ledge or deck. Secure the base plate using appropriate fasteners (not always included, depending on surface material).
- Base Clamp: Designed for clamping onto the frame of an above-ground pool. Adjust the clamp to fit securely around the pool frame and tighten the knobs.

3.3 Assembling the Aluminum Tubes
- Connect the 7-section aluminum tubes by sliding them together. Ensure they are firmly seated to create a rigid bar.
- Insert the assembled tube into the end frames. Secure them in place according to the design of the end frames (e.g., with screws or locking pins).
- Ensure the tube is centered and extends across the width of your pool cover.
3.4 Attaching the Straps to the Cover and Reel
- Lay your solar pool cover flat on the water.
- Attach the buckle and straps to the aluminum tube at regular intervals.
- Securely attach the other end of each strap to the edge of your pool cover. Ensure the straps are evenly spaced and taut to prevent the cover from sagging or tearing during operation.
- For enhanced security, consider using additional fastening methods for the straps to the pole, such as screws, if the adhesive alone proves insufficient over time.
4. Operating Instructions
The VINGLI Pool Cover Reel is designed for easy operation, allowing one person to manage the pool cover efficiently.
4.1 Rolling the Pool Cover
- Ensure the reel is securely mounted and the straps are firmly attached to the cover.
- Turn the crank handle clockwise to begin rolling the pool cover onto the aluminum tube.
- Maintain a steady pace. If the cover is wet, it may be heavy. For larger covers, two people (one on each side) can make the process smoother and prevent sagging.
- Continue turning until the entire cover is rolled onto the reel.
4.2 Unrolling the Pool Cover
- If your reel has a set screw or locking mechanism, loosen it before unrolling.
- Carefully pull the leading edge of the pool cover across the water. The reel will rotate, allowing the cover to unroll.
- Guide the cover to ensure it spreads evenly across the pool surface.
- Once fully unrolled, ensure the cover is positioned correctly over the pool.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your VINGLI Pool Cover Reel.
- Cleaning: Wipe clean the aluminum tubes and plastic components with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the materials.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and connections to ensure they are tight. Inspect straps for fraying or damage.
- Handling: While the reel is sturdy, some plastic components can be delicate. Handle the unit with care, especially during installation and removal, to prevent breakage.
- Winter Storage: During the off-season, it is recommended to remove the reel from the pool, clean it thoroughly, and store it in a dry, protected area to prevent weather-related wear.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your pool cover reel, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Reel sags in the middle | Insufficient support for heavy cover; tubes not fully connected. | Ensure tube sections are securely joined. For very heavy covers, consider additional central support if possible, or ensure straps are evenly tensioned. |
| Difficulty turning the crank | Cover is jammed or tangled; reel mechanism is stiff; set screw is engaged. | Check for obstructions. Ensure the set screw (if present) is loosened. Apply a silicone-based lubricant to moving parts if necessary. |
| Straps detach from the pole or cover | Inadequate fastening; worn straps. | Ensure straps are securely fastened to both the reel and the cover. Consider using additional fasteners like screws or strong adhesive tape for the pole attachment. Replace worn straps. |
| Plastic components break | Excessive force during operation or assembly; impact damage. | Handle the reel with care. Avoid applying excessive force when turning the crank or moving the unit. Contact support for replacement parts if available. |
