4. Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your heat pump. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified technician.

4.1 Placement

  • Choose a location with adequate airflow, away from obstructions.
  • Ensure the unit is placed on a stable, level surface.
  • Allow sufficient space around the unit for maintenance and proper air circulation.

4.2 Water Connections

  • Connect the heat pump to your pool's filtration system using the supplied Ø 50 mm PVC connectors.
  • The heat exchanger connections are 1½ inch internal thread. Ensure compatible adapters are used if not using the supplied PVC connectors.
  • A bypass installation is generally recommended for optimal flow control, especially with powerful circulation pumps.
  • Ensure the circulation pump provides sufficient flow. The heat pump requires a minimum flow rate to operate correctly. If the flow is insufficient, the unit may display an error (e.g., E3).

4.3 Electrical Connections

  • All electrical wiring must comply with local regulations and be performed by a licensed electrician.
  • Ensure the power supply matches the specifications of the heat pump.

4.4 Condensate Drainage

  • Connect the supplied condensate drain hose to the designated outlet on the unit.
  • Position the heat pump on anti-vibration mounts or a raised platform (e.g., 5cm blocks) to allow for proper drainage.
  • Consider placing a drip tray (minimum 40x85 cm internal dimensions) underneath the unit to manage condensation, especially in humid conditions or during colder operation. Ensure the tray has an outlet for continuous drainage.
  • One of the two 2cm holes under the evaporator (grille) should be sealed with the provided stopper; the other is for drainage.
  • To prevent water accumulation on the base plate, slightly tilt the unit so water drains efficiently, ideally through the rear corner hole under the evaporator bend.

5. Operation

The heat pump offers various modes for flexible and efficient pool heating.

5.1 Control Panel

  • The LED control panel allows direct control of the unit.
  • The panel is detachable and can be extended up to 10 meters using the provided cable for convenient remote access.
  • Refer to the detailed multilingual manual for specific navigation and setting adjustments on the control panel.
  • To enable timer programming via the control panel, set parameter L2 to "1" in the basic settings.

5.2 Operating Modes

  • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts the pump's performance to maintain the desired temperature efficiently.
  • Boost Mode: Provides maximum heating power for rapid temperature increase. This mode is particularly effective in very low ambient temperatures (e.g., below 0°C).
  • Eco Mode: Operates with reduced power for economical and extremely quiet performance. This mode is less suitable for very low ambient temperatures.

5.3 Wi-Fi Control (Smart Life App)

  • The heat pump features integrated Wi-Fi for control via a smartphone application.
  • Download the "Smart Life" app directly from your device's app store. The "Elesion" app may also be compatible.
  • Follow the in-app instructions to connect your heat pump to your Wi-Fi network.
  • While Wi-Fi control offers convenience, programmed timers within the app may occasionally fail. Consider using "Smart" automation features within the app instead of the heat pump's internal timer function for more reliable scheduling.
  • If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, consider a Wi-Fi repeater near the unit.

5.4 Low Temperature Operation

  • The unit is designed to operate down to -7 °C.
  • At very low temperatures (e.g., 0°C to -5°C), the Boost mode is recommended for effective heating. Silent or Eco modes may not perform optimally in these conditions.
  • The heat pump includes an automatic frost protection feature: if the water temperature inside the unit drops below 2°C, it will activate the circulation pump for approximately 10 minutes. Ensure your circulation pump is connected to the appropriate terminals on the heat pump for this feature to function.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your heat pump.

  • Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the unit clean and free from debris. Regularly clear any leaves or obstructions from the fan grille and evaporator fins.
  • Condensate Management: Periodically check the condensate drain hose for blockages and ensure proper drainage. Address any standing water around the base of the unit.
  • Winterization: Before winter or extended periods of non-use, follow the winterization procedures outlined in the full manual to protect the unit from freezing.
  • Professional Inspection: It is recommended to have the unit inspected by a qualified technician annually.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Unit not heating / Error E3 (Flow)Insufficient water flow through the heat pump. The flow sensor is sensitive.
  • Ensure the circulation pump is operating correctly and providing adequate flow (e.g., a high-efficiency 8m head pump may be required).
  • Check for blockages in the pool's filtration system or plumbing.
  • Verify that the bypass valves (if installed) are correctly set.
  • Advanced: If the flow sensor frequently triggers E3 despite adequate pump power, consult a technician. Some users have modified the paddle sensor to increase sensitivity, but this should only be done by experienced individuals and may void warranty.
Excessive Condensation / Water around unit baseNormal operation produces condensation, especially in humid or cold conditions. Inadequate drainage.
  • Ensure the condensate drain hose is properly connected and free of blockages.
  • Verify the unit is slightly tilted towards the drain outlet.
  • Consider installing a drip tray with continuous drainage underneath the unit.
  • Ensure one of the two evaporator drain holes is sealed with the provided stopper.
Wi-Fi timer programming failuresInconsistent app timer functionality or weak Wi-Fi signal.
  • Use "Smart" automation features within the Smart Life/Elesion app instead of the heat pump's internal timer function for scheduling.
  • Ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal near the unit; consider a Wi-Fi repeater if necessary.
  • Alternatively, program timers directly via the detachable control panel (ensure parameter L2 is set to "1").
Inaccurate temperature readings / OverheatingInternal temperature sensor may have slight inaccuracies or low resolution.
  • Be aware that the internal sensor may show a reading slightly lower than the actual pool temperature.
  • The temperature resolution is 1 degree, so the unit might overshoot the set temperature by a small margin before shutting off.
  • Monitor pool temperature with an external thermometer for precise control if needed.
Unit not starting immediatelyNormal startup delay. The heat pump has a built-in delay before starting operation. This is normal and not an indication of a fault.
