6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of your Intex PureSpa.
6.1. Water Treatment
The built-in hard water treatment system helps soften water, making it gentler on your skin and the spa system. However, regular chemical treatment (e.g., chlorine) is essential to maintain sanitary water conditions. Always follow chemical manufacturer's instructions.

6.2. Filter Cartridge Cleaning and Replacement
Check and clean the filter cartridges daily or after each use, depending on usage. Replace cartridges every few weeks or when they remain dirty after cleaning.
6.3. Spa Cleaning and Draining
Periodically drain the spa completely and clean the interior surfaces. Refer to the full instruction manual for detailed draining and cleaning procedures.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your PureSpa.
7.1. E81/E90 Error Code (Poor Water Flow)
If your control unit displays an E81 or E90 error code, it typically indicates an issue with water flow. Follow these steps to resolve:
- Turn off the spa unit at the control panel.
- Remove and thoroughly clean both filter units. Replace if heavily soiled or damaged.
- Reinstall the filters, ensuring they are properly seated but not overtightened.
- Reset the unit by unplugging it from the power outlet for a few minutes, then plugging it back in.
- Power on the unit and set your desired temperature. Monitor to confirm the error is cleared.
7.2. Slow Heating or Temperature Loss
If the spa is heating slowly or losing temperature quickly:
- Ensure the insulated cover is properly installed and all buckles are secured to minimize heat loss.
- Verify the ambient air temperature is within the recommended operating range (above 50°F / 10°C).
- Check that the filter cartridges are clean and not impeding water flow.
- Avoid running the bubble jets for extended periods when trying to heat the water, as they introduce cooler air.
