Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker. This timer requires a neutral wire for proper operation. Refer to the wiring diagram below and consult a qualified electrician if needed.
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the switch you are replacing and turn off the power. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Existing Switch: Unscrew and carefully remove the wall plate and the existing switch from the electrical box. Do not disconnect any wires yet.
- Identify Wires: Identify the Line (hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground wires. The Line wire connects to power, the Load wire connects to the lighting fixture, the Neutral wire is typically white, and the Ground wire is typically green or bare copper. Label each wire for easy identification.
- Disconnect Wires: Disconnect the wires from the old switch.
- Connect Ground Wire: Connect the green or bare copper ground wire from the electrical box to the green ground terminal on the timer.
- Connect Neutral Wire: Connect one end of the provided white jumper wire to the bundle of neutral wires in the electrical box using a wire nut. Secure the other end of the jumper to the neutral terminal on the timer.
- Connect Load Wire: Connect the black load wire from the electrical box to the load terminal on the timer.
- Connect Line Wire: Connect the black line (hot) wire from the electrical box to the line terminal on the timer.
- Three-Way Installation (if applicable): If installing in a three-way setup, connect the traveler wire to the traveler terminal on the timer.
- Mount Timer: Carefully push the wired timer back into the electrical box, ensuring no wires are pinched. Secure the timer using the supplied screws.
- Install Wall Plate: Reinstall the wall plate.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

Initial Setup
After installation and restoring power, the timer's LCD display will activate. You will need to set the current time, date, and your time zone.
- Reset Timer: Open the hinged door to access the programming buttons. Use a non-metallic pointed object (like a toothpick) to press the 'RESET' button located at the bottom of the control panel. This clears all previous settings.
- Set Current Time: The time will flash on the display. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to adjust the hour and minutes. Press 'SET' to confirm.
- Set Date: The year, month, and day will flash. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to adjust each value, pressing 'SET' after each to confirm.
- Select Time Zone: The display will show 'ZONE'. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to select your time zone (e.g., EST, CST, MST, PST). Press 'SET' to confirm.
- Daylight Saving Time (DST): The display will show 'DST'. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to select 'ON' or 'OFF' for automatic daylight saving time adjustments. Press 'SET' to confirm.
Programming Schedules
The timer allows for custom ON/OFF schedules, including sunrise/sunset based programming and up to 7 additional programs.
Custom ON/OFF Times
You can set specific ON and OFF times for any day or combination of days of the week.
- Set ON Time: Press the 'ON TIME' button. The time will flash. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to set the desired ON time. Press 'SET' to confirm.
- Select Days for ON Time: The days of the week will flash. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the days you want this ON time to be active (e.g., M-F, S-S, or individual days). Press 'SET' to confirm.
- Set OFF Time: Press the 'OFF TIME' button. The time will flash. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to set the desired OFF time. Press 'SET' to confirm.
- Select Days for OFF Time: The days of the week will flash. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the days you want this OFF time to be active. Press 'SET' to confirm.

Sunrise/Sunset Programming
The timer can automatically turn lights ON at sunset and OFF at sunrise based on your selected time zone.
- Sunset ON: Press the 'SUNSET ON' button. The light will turn on at sunset.
- Sunrise OFF: Press the 'SUNRISE OFF' button. The light will turn off at sunrise.
- Evening Preset: Press the 'EVENING' button for a preset that turns lights ON at sunset and OFF at 12 AM.
You can adjust these times by up to one hour earlier or later than the automatically determined sunrise/sunset times by pressing the respective ON/OFF TIME buttons and adjusting.
Extra Programs
The timer supports up to 7 additional custom programs. To access and set these:
- Press the 'EXTRA PROGRAMS' button repeatedly to cycle through programs 1-7.
- Once you select a program (e.g., 'ON PRG 1'), follow the steps for 'Custom ON/OFF Times' to set the desired schedule for that program.
Operating Instructions
Manual ON/OFF Override
To manually turn the connected light ON or OFF at any time, simply press the large rocker switch on the timer's face. This will override any active program until the next scheduled ON/OFF event.
Countdown Timer
The countdown feature allows you to turn the light ON for a set duration, after which it will automatically turn OFF.
- Press the 'COUNTDOWN' button. The display will show a default countdown time.
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to adjust the countdown duration from 1 minute up to 24 hours.
- Once the desired duration is set, the countdown will begin automatically. The light will turn off when the countdown expires.
Maintenance
The UltraPro Daysmart Timer requires minimal maintenance. Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials. Ensure the hinged door is closed when not programming to protect the buttons and display.
Troubleshooting
- Timer not powering on: Ensure power is restored at the circuit breaker. Verify all wiring connections are secure, especially the Line and Neutral wires.
- Lights not turning on/off as scheduled: Check that the current time, date, and time zone are set correctly. Ensure the desired program is active and the correct days of the week are selected.
- Lights are always ON/OFF: This may indicate incorrect Line/Load wiring. Disconnect power and re-check the wiring connections according to the diagram.
- Display is blank or dim: Press the 'RESET' button. If the issue persists, ensure power is supplied to the unit.
- Buttons unresponsive: Ensure the hinged door is fully open when attempting to program. If unresponsive, try pressing the 'RESET' button.
