4. Installation
4.1. Placement Options
The Aqara Motion Sensor offers flexible installation options. The recommended installation height is between 1.2 meters and 2.1 meters for optimal detection.
- Option 1: Tabletop Placement
Simply place the motion sensor on a flat surface where motion detection is desired. Ensure it is within the detection area and range. - Option 2: Adhesive Mounting (Direct)
Remove the protective film from the adhesive backing and stick the sensor directly to a desired flat surface, such as a wall or ceiling. - Option 3: Stand Mounting
Attach the motion sensor to its adjustable stand. Then, use the adhesive backing on the stand to stick it to a wall or ceiling. This allows for angle adjustment to optimize the detection area.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
The Aqara Motion Sensor uses one CR2450 Lithium Metal battery, which typically lasts for approximately 2 years. To replace the battery:
- Prepare a new CR2450 battery.
- Hold the upper cover of the sensor and the battery cover with both hands.
- Turn the battery cover counter-clockwise to open it.
- Remove the existing battery.
- Place the new CR2450 battery in the battery slot, ensuring the positive side faces upwards.
- Align the markers of the battery cover with the markers on the motion sensor.
- Turn the battery cover clockwise to tighten it. The battery cover is successfully attached.

7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Disconnection Issues
Some Aqara battery-powered sensors may not be strictly Zigbee standard compliant. If a non-compliant Aqara sensor encounters a standard Zigbee repeater, it might attempt to connect via the repeater and then disconnect from the network. To resolve this:
- Ensure your Aqara devices are placed far enough from incompatible Zigbee repeaters to prevent unintended connections.
- Consider using Aqara-compatible repeaters (e.g., Aqara Smart Plug or Aqara Smart Wall Switch with Neutral) to extend your Zigbee network.
7.2. Pairing Issues
If you experience difficulty pairing the sensor:
- Reset the Aqara Motion Sensor by long-pressing the reset button for 3 seconds until the blue light blinks three times.
- During the pairing process, keep the sensor awake by pressing the reset button every 2 seconds until pairing is complete.
- Ensure the sensor is within close proximity to your Aqara Hub during the pairing process.
