1. Introduction
The UHPPOTE UT-RZ-40NC is a wired magnetic contact sensor designed for security systems. It operates on a Normally Closed (NC) principle, meaning the circuit is closed when the magnet and sensor are in proximity (e.g., a door or window is closed) and opens when they are separated (e.g., a door or window is opened). This sensor provides a reliable switch signal to your access control or burglar alarm system, indicating the status of protected entry points.

2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the reliable operation of your magnetic contact sensor. Follow these steps carefully.
2.1 Components
- Sensor Unit: Contains the reed switch and screw terminals for wiring.
- Magnet Unit: A passive magnet that interacts with the sensor unit.
- Mounting Screws: For secure attachment.
- Double-Sided Tape: For alternative or supplementary mounting.
2.2 Mounting
- Choose Location: Identify the desired location on your window or door frame and the corresponding moving part (window sash or door). The sensor and magnet units must be mounted parallel to each other and align when the door/window is closed.
- Clean Surface: Ensure the mounting surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust or grease.
- Attach Sensor Unit: Mount the sensor unit (the part with the wiring terminals) to the stationary frame. You can use the provided screws or the double-sided tape. If using tape, press firmly for several seconds.
- Attach Magnet Unit: Mount the magnet unit to the moving part of the door or window, ensuring it aligns with the sensor unit when closed. The gap between the sensor and magnet should be minimal (ideally less than 10mm or 0.39 inches) for reliable operation.

2.3 Wiring
The sensor operates as a switch and requires connection to a compatible access control or burglar alarm system. It cannot be connected directly to power.
- Prepare Wires: Strip a small amount of insulation from the ends of the wires from your alarm system.
- Connect Wires: Loosen the two screws on the sensor unit's terminals. Insert one wire into each terminal hole and tighten the screws to secure the connection. Ensure a firm connection to prevent intermittent signals.
- Verify Connection: Confirm that the sensor is properly integrated into your alarm system's zone wiring. The sensor is designed to work with a 12V system.
3. Operating Instructions
The UHPPOTE UT-RZ-40NC sensor functions as a Normally Closed (NC) contact. Understanding this operation is key to its use within your security system.
- Normally Closed (NC) Operation: When the magnet unit is in close proximity to the sensor unit (e.g., the door or window is closed), the internal reed switch is closed, completing the circuit. Your alarm system will interpret this as a secure, closed state.
- Open Circuit: When the magnet unit moves away from the sensor unit (e.g., the door or window is opened), the internal reed switch opens, breaking the circuit. Your alarm system will detect this open circuit as an alarm condition, triggering the appropriate response.

4. Maintenance
The magnetic contact sensor requires minimal maintenance to ensure continued reliable performance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor and magnet units with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Alignment Check: Regularly inspect the alignment of the sensor and magnet units. Ensure they remain parallel and within the recommended gap when the door/window is closed.
- Wiring Inspection: Occasionally check the wiring connections at the screw terminals to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Physical Damage: Inspect for any signs of physical damage to the sensor or magnet housing. Replace damaged units promptly.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your magnetic contact sensor, refer to the following troubleshooting guide.
- Sensor Not Triggering Alarm When Door/Window Opens:
- Check Alignment: Ensure the sensor and magnet units are perfectly aligned and within the specified gap (typically less than 10mm) when the door/window is closed.
- Inspect Wiring: Verify that the wires are securely connected to the sensor's screw terminals and to your alarm system. Loose connections can prevent proper signal transmission.
- Test Alarm System: Confirm that your alarm system itself is functioning correctly and that the zone connected to the sensor is active.
- False Alarms (Alarm Triggers When Door/Window is Closed):
- Check Alignment: The magnet might be too far from the sensor, or misaligned, causing the circuit to open even when the door/window is closed.
- Loose Mounting: If either unit is loose, it might shift, causing intermittent contact. Re-secure both units.
- Damaged Sensor: In rare cases, the internal reed switch might be faulty. If all other troubleshooting fails, consider replacing the sensor.
- Difficulty with Wire Insertion:
- The wire holes can be small. For stranded wires, twist the strands tightly before insertion. For solid wires, ensure they are straight. A small paperclip can sometimes help clear the hole if needed.
